Douglas Riccardi: You Gotta Eat

Details

Join us, our friends at General Assembly (https://generalassemb.ly/) and Knock Knock (http://knockknockstuff.com/) in welcoming Douglas Riccardi to Los Angeles to talk about designing in the restaurant space.

{RSVP instructions below}

Douglas will present an opinionated survey of current landscape in restaurant/food branding and the unique challenges and opportunities faced by designers working in this arena. Drawing on both his studio’s projects at Memo (http://www.memo-ny.com/) and other notable brands, Douglas will share some of the strategy and best practices involved in taking restaurant brands from raw to well-done.

Douglas Riccardi is the Owner/Creative Director of Memo — a Manhattan-based design agency specializing in branding and marketing collateral for a number of hospitality and retail clients such as Pizzeria Mozza, Osteria Mozza, Eataly, Vox Vodka, Pour Wines, Elixir Juice Bar, Connie & Ted's and more. Douglas Riccardi has worked with some of the most influential and innovative international design firms of our time, including Tibor Kalman’s M&Co (New York), Benetton SpA (Treviso, Italy) and Ettore Sottsass’s Sottsass Associati (Milan, Italy).

“I had the great fortune of working at two studios where there were no boundaries, no labels, and no set job descriptions. These were M&Co. and Sottsass Associati in Milan. Not only has this has made me really enjoy working in groups, but it taught me to see my contributions as part of a bigger whole. It also taught me to appreciate the way other design professionals approach the same project, but through the lens of their discipline.” – Douglas Riccardi, Image of the Studio (http://imageofthestudio.com/studio/memo)
