Hey everyone,

Got this email and asked Albert if I could post it for the group... it's a good cause and might be a good opportunity for some of your companies. Thought I'd pass it along. Follow up with Albert if you're interested to get the forms, etc.

Dear Fellow Statisticians and Analytics Professionals:

You are invited to participate as an exhibitor during the 2012 Careers Day in Statistics sponsored by the Southern California Chapter of the American Statistical Association (SCASA), to be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at City of Hope National Medical Center, Duarte, CA. This is a unique opportunity to meet young statisticians, introduce them to your organization, and help them learn about the diverse opportunities, challenges, and prerequisites for a successful career in statistics. If you believe that there is someone in your organization who is better able to respond to this message, please forward this to them.
We are excited with the format for the Careers Day this year. The morning session will consist of panel sessions with speakers from various fields within statistics. This will be followed by the Career Fair from noon until 2pm. During the Career Fair, exhibitors typically chat with meeting participants, discussing, among other things, job openings at their organization, what their organization does and what they themselves do. Careers Day is free of charge to all participants, including exhibitors. Last year, we had over 80 undergraduate and graduate students attend the day.

Corporate and government exhibitors often use Careers Day as a recruitment opportunity, which is a welcome activity. However, Careers Day is an educational event, so your participation will be appreciated regardless of any open positions. Academic departments often use Careers Day to recruit students, but we also hope to provide an opportunity for participants to speak with faculty about the nature of an academic career.

An exhibitor's registration form is attached for your convenience. Please return this form by email if you wish to participate as an exhibitor. A lunch may be reserved for $5.00.

In addition, we are continuing to look for corporate sponsors. The donations will be used to offset the cost of mailing packets of flyers advertising the event to universities and/or members of SCASA throughout Southern California. I have attached a sponsorship form. Please contact me for additional information.

Sponsorship Fee: $250
Benefits: Sponsorship of an event entitles the Corporation to the following for the calendar year:
1) Listing as a sponsor on all advertisements distributed by SCASA for the event (this includes e-mail ads, printed flyers, and web pages on the event)
2) Up to 3 e-mail ads on subjects of interest to and consistent with the Chapter’s mission sent to the SCASA membership via the e-news editor (Postings of employment opportunities and notices of statistics workshops are examples of such subjects); these 3 e-mails are devoted solely to the Sponsor and not part of the regular monthly chapter news.
3) Short ads in up to 3 issues of the regular monthly chapter e-news (electronically distributed newsletter).

If you are interested in sponsoring this year’s event, please submit the attached application for sponsorship and submit to our Treasurer, Jo Hardin.
SCASA Careers Day offers your organization a unique opportunity for targeted exposure, and it offers you an opportunity to make a difference in how young statisticians will use their talents. Please join us.

Kind Regards,

Albert Lee, PhD
