About us
Welcome to the grass roots, people-powered, community calendar of events for the Witches & Pagans Community in Los Angeles!
There are several new, important differences between this and most other Meetups. The most important difference is that from now on ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS ARE WELCOME TO CREATE AND ANNOUNCE MEETUP EVENTS - as soon as you send a request to be upgraded to Event Organizer status by sending a request to member, Krystal Rains. (click on members, and search for her name)
Due to the recent change in status/spammer ownership, there does appear to be one remaining change. It looks likes Meetup.com altered their policies regarding open calendars, such that groups started after 2014 are not able to allow all members to post events. Instead, admins can upgrade any member to "Event Organizer" status, allowing them to create, edit, and delete their own events as they like. When our meetup changed hands our page changed to the new model.
You can read about Meetup's policy here: Member Suggest Meetups. "
EVERY SINGLE COMMUNITY MEMBER can post ANY EVENT you like on the new Community Calendar - As soon as you request Event Organizer status due to the changes on Meetup.com (see above) - And you can even announce it yourself immediately the entire community without approval as well.
Here is - step by step - how to create a grass roots Meetup event on the Community Calendar:
1. Join the Community.
2. Go to the members, search for Krystal Rains and request to be made an "Event Organizer"
3. Event Organizers may add Meetups by filling out the 'Let's Meetup and...' form
4. Meetups added by Event Organizers are turned into official Meetups immediately.
5. Event Organizer-added Meetups with a date selected will appear on the Calendar
6. Event Organizer-added Meetups without a date selected will appear only on the 'Upcoming' Meetups list on the Meetup Group's home page
7. The Event Organizer who adds the Meetup may choose to announce the Meetup to the Meetup Group's members immediately.
Finally, the community mailing list is currently moderated, but informative messages will be approved to reach the entire community!
Please Use the Message Boards for ongoing conversations.
These are powerful community building tools. Please use them responsibly.
This is our community. Let's nurture and care for it.

British Traditional Witchcraft 101 with Griffin & Carrie (HYBRID)
The Green Man Store, 824 North Hollywood Way,, Burbank, CA, USTraditional Witchcraft 101 with Griffin & Carrie
Starting Tuesday Jan 14th at 7:30 p.m. for seven weeks.
This Series will be HYBRID: in person, and on Zoom!
Those who purchase the full series will have access to class videos on line for a limited time.
About the Series;
This series can be worked as a follow on to the Intro Series, or as your first class into this form of Traditional Witchcraft. During this series we will cover the full broad spectrum of the basics in all areas of Traditional Witchcraft, from spell-crafting, to Altars and basic magical tools of all sorts, and onto all forms of Spirits, familiars, Ancestral, Gods and beyond! This is a comprehensive introduction to all areas and elements of Traditional Witchcraft, most importantly, we will be covering the creation of various forms of a working Witches Compass, setting up the basic Northern Quarter System.
Note: This is not a Wiccan-based Witchcraft system. We do not work an Elemental-based Magical system nor do we work Golden Dawn Quarters.
Also to be covered, deeper explorations into working with the Moons and Sabbats and other subjects related to the tides of Fate and the Web of Wyrd. We will cover all important areas of Witch Lore and Cosmology, including how it works and why we need work it the way we do!
All this and a whole lot more, as anyone who has taken classes with me will tell–you always get more than you can handle!
This series is good for people of ALL levels who are interested in learning more about Traditional Witchcraft. As those who have taken classes with me before know, I never teach the same class or material in the same manner twice. Way too boring! So it’s not unusual for some students to return & take these series multiple times to find new insights. Though this series is designed to be accessible to new comers to Trad Craft, these classes can also hold insights for the seasoned witch of other traditions and experiences. But I warn you old timers, I will be keeping this accessible to new people, and won’t be hijacked into deeper waters!
Carrie and I are Practicing Witches with years experience, working the craft, teaching and leading a decades old Traditional Witchcraft Coven. We are also known for our work leading large groups in public workings. We offer a structured system that works to support modern day Witches in practical application of and evolution of the Legacy they inheritably hold within their Witchblood. As noted above, this is not a Wiccan-based system, and it is different from what you may find in most books! We work in conjunction with various kinds of Spirits and the practice of Magic as foundational. You may experience magic and high energy first-hand in these classes.
An open mind to exploration into an alternative approach to the Craft is required. A sense of humour is also required! We take our work seriously but not ourselves. Our Spirituality, what some call the Olde Religion, is a path of laughter! Yes we do cackle!
Note* We start each week at 7.30pm with open general discussion during the first half hour so people running from work may make it to the class proper, which starts at 8.00pm.
Class fees:
ON ZOOM: $28 per class; $143 for 7 week Series if paid in full by first class (a $5 per class savings when paid in full; it brings the price to $20 per class).
IN PERSON: $33 per class; $178 for week Series if paid in full by first class (a $5 per class savings when paid in full; it brings the price to $25 per class).
**PLEASE NOTE: Payments for all Events, Classes, and Rituals at The Green Man are non-refundable.**

At one point in time, the mind of humanity suddenly experienced a dramatic and fundamental shift, much like an earthquake of human consciousness, with aftershocks still shaking us today every time we ponder the nature of reality!
The origins of this sudden interest in the Nature of Reality as parsed out from pure and utter superstition, hearsay, and long-established tradition arrived from a groups of often forgotten Greeks who were not even living in Greece but most of them living along the western shores of what is now Turkey, thriving here from the sixth to the fifth century BCE.
As if waking up from a deep slumber, a new intelligence now peered out from behind our eyes as those known as the “Natural Philosophers” outright rejected mythology as an ultimate explanation for why the universe was the way it was and instead sought out “rational” explanations!
They wanted to know the origin of all things, what the essential building blocks for the universe were, and how to prove what they speculated, often through mathematical deductions.
From such men as Thales, Anaximander, Anaximenes, Pythagoras, Heraclitus, Empedocles, and Leucippe arrived everything from belief that water was the basic element for a life and the concept of the evolution of humanity to the profession that the universe was always in flux and all things were created out of atoms!!!!
We will get to personally know each of those philosophers who came up with all these ideas—getting to know their stories, often odd, and always entertaining (think: “Big Bang Theory” types). Despite professing ideas separated from religion—religious ideas did manage to emerge from time to time, for example, the conception of the Logos (which will become part of the Gospel of John), the journey and nature of the human soul, the belief in the transmigration of souls (yes, reincarnation in the Greco-Roman world folks!), and the essential power of the Four Elements (Earth, Air, Fire, & Water).
We will explore the very essence of what makes up our society today and provide exact reasons for why this sudden Ancient Great Awakening of the human mind came about in the first place and in this particular location—you will leave with precise reasons why we think the way we do right now (even as you read this description here) and realize without these Pre-Socratic philosophers there would be no sophisticated Roman Empire with its idea of Natural Law, no Renaissance, no Enlightenment, and no Scientific Age in the West!!! Prepare for your mind to be blown…but in a “good” way!
This lecture will be posted on the Dr. James Rietveld Salon Lecture You Tube channel, where you can also watch previous lectures: dr.jamesrietveldsalonlectu2903
Dr. James Rietveld is a professor at CSU, Fullerton and Cal Poly Pomona, CA of History, Anthropology, Religion with a PHD from Claremont School of Religion, is author of two books, and can be seen on History channel's "Crazy Rich Ancients."1 attendee
