Rueda Dance Class

Details

What is rueda?

Rueda is a called group dance. Pairs of dancers form a circle (usually). A caller will call out and use hand signs (in case the music is too loud to hear) to indicate salsa and/or casino dance moves. Many of the moves involve changing partners. Exciting combinations, humorous moves, and constant movement of partners around the circle and make rueda a lot of fun to watch as well as perform.

Experience: Some salsa, casino, and/or rueda experience needed

You don't have to be a master salsa, casino, or rueda dancer to join this class, but we do expect that you have previously taken lead and follow dance classes, know your basic rhythms (such as 1,2,3,5,6,7), and feel comfortable leading or following basic salsa, casino, and/or rueda moves. If you aren't there yet, you can take the 7:30 P.M. beginning salsa class to help you gain the skills you need to be successful in this class.

Attire: Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable - some people wear button down shirts or cute skirts. Dance shoes are recommended.
