From Danielle, 2016: After a year and a half of working full-time and juggling all the household duties and joys of being a mother (read early morning cuddles, going to work with half-wet hair, missing my baby and having lunch at my desk made up of snacks I took from the communal kitchen), I found myself finally giving into to searching on Meetup.com for a way to connect with like-minded women. Of course, a meet up for working moms in my area doesn't exist! So rather than give up I am taking the initiative and starting one. Being a working mother comes with a unique set of struggles and rewards. For me, one of the struggles has been making other mom friends! My schedule is not compatible with mothers who stay at home (as much as I would absolutely love to attend their playdates). I don't know about you but this can feel pretty isolating! Let's get together (sometimes with the kids and sometimes without) and build a community of support and fun for one another. It would be great to not only connect on a mother level but on a professional one as well. Being a working mother is non-stop and one lesson I have learned in my journey is it important to set aside time to do something social! I hope you will join me.
