What we're about

• Welcome to the Loss in the Woods, an outdoors grief group. This group is for anyone and everyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one, and wants to be in company of others who can understand. The group will go on outdoors trips, varying in length from single day trips to overnight retreats. Activities may include hiking, cycling, rock climbing, paddling, camping, yoga, skiing, and more!

• All trips are led by two women, Kate and Orla, who both lost their Moms much too young and have found healing in the mountains and in nature. We want to cultivate a supportive community for people who are grieving the loss of someone they never thought they could live without. We want to bring you into the mountains, and provide a safe place to let your thoughts, feelings, fears and experiences be heard and acknowledged by others who truly get it. Even if you don't want to talk, it may help to be around others who have also experienced their world fall apart. Activities may require varying levels of physical fitness and outdoor skills or equipment - but have no fear, we will teach you how to thrive in the wilderness (and provide rental gear if you need).

• Kate are Orla are both ski patrollers, outdoor enthusiasts, members of the unofficial Dead Mom Club, and have various medical licenses (Kate is a Wilderness EMT and Registered Kripalu Yoga Teacher with Trauma-Informed training; Orla is a Flight Nurse and Pro Spartan Racer).

• We look forward to meeting you and leading you into the great outdoors.
