2nd Annual 20 Mile State Park Hop! : Main Stem of the Edisto River Expedition

The Skinny:
What we will do and when we will do it:
Our group in two days will paddle 20 miles of the 300 mile Edisto River from Green Pond Church Landing down to Gihvans Ferry State Park. The Edisto River is one of the longest naturally flowing “black rivers” in the world. This is a truly unique trip! Our route will take us on the Main Stem.
When do we paddle?:
The trip date is Jan 17 - 19, 2019 and will be rain or shine. Note: Depending on river levels we may push the date.
Who will you do it with?:
The cap for the trip is 6 paddlers. Your ACA certified ASHI Wilderness First Aid trained guides knows this route.
Who can come?:
This is an adult only trip with the minimum age of 18. Distance Paddling experience and winter camping skills are a plus.
What you need:
Kayaking gear including PFDs and lights a must. Food for 3 days (Day 1 lunch (we have dinner covered, Day 2 breakfast / lunch (we have dinner covered), Day 3 breakfast. You will need water and snacks to cover all days.
Note: Since we are state park camping each night, you will not have to worry about carrying your camping gear. Be sure to bring all you camping essentials : Tent. Camping Chair, Sleeping bag. These will be set up at each state park location prior to use hitting the water.

Complete Kayak rentals are available for $45.

The Day to Day Deets:
Day 1 (Friday): We will meet at Colleton County State Park (our Day 1 camp spot) in the morning by 9am. We will get situated and move boats onto trailers and head to the Green Pond put-in. We should be on the water no later than 11am. Our distance for Day 1 will be 10 miles and we will be setting up camp before we lose daylight back at Colleton. Dinner will be covered by your guides.
Dinner Day 1: Shrimp Tacos **
**Please let us know if you are allergic to shellfish or vegan and we can arrange a special menu.
Day 2 (Saturday): We will depart Colleton by 9 am and shuttle to Minnie Grubber Rumph Landing. We will unload boats and shuttle vehicles to Givhans State Park, which will serve as our take-out and camp site. Shuttle crew will head back to Minnie Grubber Rumph landing and we will get underway no later than 11 am. Our distance for Day 2 will be 10 miles. When we arrive at Givhans Ferry State Park, we will then transition into full on leisure mode. Your guides will prepare dinner for all as folks get comfortable around the fire and discuss all things kayaking (or whatever floats your boat….see what I did there?).
Dinner Day 2: Garden Pasta with Crusty Bread and wine pairing.
Day 3: We have breakfast, break camp and head home totally stoked!
What else do I need to know?:
We will practice a leave no trace policy while on and off the river.
