We are now co-hosts of the new Meteor Honolulu (http://www.meetup.com/Meteor-Hawaii/) group in conjunction with the core Meteor (https://www.meteor.com/) team and are hosting a meetup for Worldwide Meteor Day( http://meteorday.com )!
NOTE: This is a duplicate of the actual group event listed here: Meteor Hawaii Worldwide Meteor Day (http://www.meetup.com/Meteor-Hawaii/events/216730272/). This group is fully encouraged to attend and if you are attending our ExpressJS event that day, feel free to hang out for this event as well and make it a night of code!!
The whole Meteor community is holding simultaneous meetups around the world on Nov 6, open to anyone who is interested in learning more about the Meteor platform. You’ll get to meet developers who have built things with Meteor here in Honolulu, play with the new Meteor examples and tutorial, and talk about the framework in general. This will be a virtual meetup since I am actually already hosting another one from 6-8pm and so that we can get attendance hopefully from out of town and maybe outer islands as well.
I am trying to verify if we can get a core developer to attend but due to our time schedule I'm not sure yet. I have been working in Meteor over the past year in production as well as using it as one of the core components of the Dev League (http://www.devleague.com/) curriculum, so I have a fair amount of experience although really the last final releases leading up to 1.0 covered a lot of new ground with some major improvements so there's some new ground to be explored.
Also, I'm trying to get some swag which probably won't be here before the event but if I get some later I'll distribute to attendees first.
If you’ve built a Meteor app before, we would love to see it during the show & tell part of the meetup. This could be any project large or small, whether that’s a complex production app or just something you threw together in a weekend. Drop us a line in the comments if you have a Meteor app you could show.
