What we're about

Hello! I am an expat from San Francisco want to get people together to help each other grow in this tech savvy world by sharing resources for learning, exchanging ideas, and practicing skills together. Everyone is welcome.

I am a native English speaker and expat from San Francisco. I am also learning French. I know some Italian and Spanish, however, if you would like help in French feel free to communicate on the board and see if another native French speaker is coming.

Each meeting will have a theme to keep it organised and we will meet somewhere quiet where we can have drinks or coffee. Our meetings can include just carving out a time and place for writers to meet up and network or working together on a specific topic like finding your voice, editing, or practicing technology writers need to have to create content and navigate their interests.

Don't forget to contribute to the Discussion Forum if you have something interesting to say!

Who knows? You might gain an awesome group of people who do amazing things just out of pure passion and creativity.... or at least there will be a group of people you can meet up with every week to keep you in check on your progress and help you get past road blocks when learning HTML5, Adobe Illustrator or learning how to make a Facebook page for your small business.

Shut up and write- RSVP and organize with other members in comments section

To ensure that there is a chance to meet during the day, this meetup is member lead. Whoever signs up, please connect with other members who RSVP by direct message or comments board and organize yourselves to meet together and get some writing done:) I will not be present at the meet-up, only those who RSVP. If you are the only one who RSVP's please expect to be the only one present. Thank you! Although this is member lead, you may follow the suggested format of meeting up, writing for an hour with a timer, and speaking afterwards. Making the time to write one hour each week is an empowering and rewarding experience. It can serve as a powerful base for building your daily writing discipline. “Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don't feel I should be doing something else.“ - Gloria Steinem

Shut up and Write ~ Creative happy hour

Konrad Cafe & Bar

Come by after work and grab a drink or coffee to dedicate an hour to your writing. Don't be regretful you didn't create time for your side passions or writing projects. Keep your creative side happy and enjoy it with no strings attached:) If you RSVP that you are coming, then please arrive 5-10 minutes early, grab your coffee or tea then get ready to write. We want to be respectful of your time. The organizer will lead introductions and then the group will write for an hour. Afterwards, there will be 15–30 minutes of social time to get to know each other. This Meetup will help members reach their writing goals in a supportive, social setting. Writing—whether it's approached professionally or as a hobby—doesn't have to be isolating. We welcome anyone who writes, regardless of genre or medium, whether it be writing novels, short stories, poetry, screenplays, essays, school reports and more. Making the time to write one hour each week is an empowering and rewarding experience. It can serve as a powerful base for building your daily writing discipline. Members often talk about their successes and challenges as writers. There should be no critiquing, exercises, lectures, ego, competition or feeling guilty. “Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don't feel I should be doing something else.“ - Gloria Steinem Please contact me if you have any questions.
