MeetUp Agenda:
1:30 pm - Doors open and Networking
2:00 pm - Welcome, MeetUp Objectives & Introduction by Steven M. Daniel
2:15 pm - Panel Discussants (List will be expanded & modified):
• R N Kabir - CTO & Chief Strategist, ENDS Energy (http://www.ENDSEnergy.com (http://www.endsenergy.com/)) - A Small Step for a Company, A Giant Leap for Industry - TCSI Objectives & Strategy. Discussing an industry case studies that revolutionized a stagnant industry by identifying the hurdles, overcoming them with innovative new solutions and creating new standards & technologies through cooperation & solidarity.
• Janine Finnell - Founder - Leaders in Energy Research, Communications, Policies & Analysis (http://www.LERCPA.org (http://www.lercpa.org/)) - Towards a 100% Clean & Renewable world. Discussing the impetus for her group and exploring challenges & solutions we face going forward.
• Bill Brandon - Founder & Industrial Eco-Systems Planner/Designer- IESP Consultants - Integrated Solutions and his take on collaborations needed to spark innovation & reducing costs towards a Renewable future.
• Jordan Engel - Mentor Chair, CleanTech Open (http://www2.CleanTechOpen.org/ (http://www2.cleantechopen.org/)) - the world’s largest accelerator for CleanTech startups. Discussing the view from his part of clean energy ecosystem, focusing again on collaborative challenges and solutions.
• MD Senator Ben Cardin - COP21 US Delegate Leader - Maryland Leadership & Support - Governmental & Policy Collaboration with the industry to spark Technical Innovations.
3:15 pm - Proposed Workgroups & Collaboration Strategy:
The Clean Tech Industry should create multiple, 7-15 person workgroups or "Regional Groups" within a region. A good example of a region is DC, VA & MD. Each Regional Group or RG will be composed of at least one representative from each Clean Tech segment such as Hydro, Wind, Storage, etc., as well as a particular discipline such as Material-Sciences Scientist, AI Software Engineer, etc., (a good, diverse mix within each RG). Each RG will also elect a 2-3 person "Leader Team" or LT to represent their RG.
The RGs will, at first, collaborate & tackle specific subject matters such as Harvestor Innovation, Standards, etc., and/or IoT Integration, Standards, etc. within their group. Then they will work with other local RGs to create consensus & proposals. The Leader Teams or LTs will work with other region's LTs to create 7-15 person Multi-Regional Groups or MRG, again composed of at least one representative from each Clean Tech segment such as Hydro, Wind, Storage, etc., as well as a particular discipline such as Material-Sciences Scientist, AI Software Engineer, etc., (a good, diverse mix within each MRG).
These MRGs and their LTs will be the foundation of a national, and eventually a global, network of Clean Tech Scientists, Engineers & Innovators to collaborate towards solving our Clean Tech hurdles. The approach is to utilize systemic thinking and inter-disciplinary & inter-industry collaboration as foundations to spark Innovations & solve Technical problems to accelerate Clean & Renewable Energy deployment & growth
3:30 pm - FollowUp & WorkGroup Strategy, Q&A and Discussion:
Discuss, as a group, to identify fundamental hurdles that are in the way of Clean Energy deployment & growth. Identifying the Problems:
• What are the Technical weaknesses, challenges & roadblocks?
• What are the Implementation & Integration weaknesses, challenges & roadblocks?
• What are the systemic hurdles/challenges we encounter on a regular basis?
• What are the combined challenges standing in the way of Clean Energy growth?
• How can we speed up Clean Energy acceptance, investments & growth?
• What will spark Innovation and make us more competitive against legacy systems?
