• College of Southern Maryland EV Meetup

    College of Southern Maryland

***LUNCH PROVIDED*** CSM is hosting a LEGO Championship robotics event on April 6th and they've asked us again if we could showcase some electric vehicles. If you are closer to Southern Maryland this event is for you! If not, use one of our fine charging stations in the area, before or after the event. Drinks and lunch will be sponsored by CSM (PE building, room 120B). Please join us and give back to the Community by sharing your experiences with your EV(s)! Hundreds of students and parents will be in attendance. CSM put us on their official schedule from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM, but we officially start the meetup at 10:30 AM. I will be there earlier, and you are also welcome to arrive earlier. This event is a good one to get kids interested in robotics. We'll be in parking Lot 3, across from the ST Building. This is our first Sunday meetup to include those of you who work on Saturdays. At 60,000 sq. ft., this state-of-the-art indoor karting facility in Columbia, Maryland offers speed lovers the thrill of racing F1-inspired karts at speeds of up to 50 mph! Autobahn Indoor Speedway Baltimore (BWI) features two indoor Grand Prix-style tracks and high-speed electric Italian pro-karts for adult and junior racers. Please review the weekend pricing located on the following page: https://autobahnspeed.com/locations/baltimore-bwi-md-indoor-go-karts/ - Please review the website for age restrictions and what you should wear: https://autobahnspeed.com/karting-101/karting-101indoor-karting-faqs/ We'll do some type of contest (best time, etc.) and the winner will get 2 tickets to the Washington Auto Show in April. An annual $7.95 Speedway License is required to race; it is valid at all locations and includes: a free race the week of your birthday ($20 value, MUST opt in to receive emails), a free head sock ($4 value), use of helmets, online scoring, mobile app & access to special offers. Races are 14 laps for Adults and 12 laps for Juniors. The race ends when the winner completes their final lap. All pricing is per racer. A single race (14 laps) is $19.99, so if you want to race, minimally, with the license, it will cost about $30. Race purchases never expire, so the more you buy, the more of a discount you can get. There is a viewing area for those who choose not to race. If there is interest, we can have a late lunch at a restaurant close by after the meetup.

  • "Sure plays a mean pinball" Groundhog Day EV Meetup (MOM's, College Park, MD)

Are you a pinball wizard? Given we're in the colder months now, we found something to do inside for our February meetup. MOM's will present a little introduction (at around 11 AM) about their purpose and history, then set us loose in their pinball lounge, a unique feature of this new location in College Park, MD (located in the old REI). We can also enjoy their Witches' Brew Coffee Bar and Naked Lunch All Organic Vegetarian Eatery. Refreshments are allowed in the pinball lounge, just not on top of the machines. We've always been supportive of MOM's as they have supported area electric car organizations with donations and charging stations. And just to be clear, they are still waiting on the new charging stations to be installed at this location. A listing of their many pinball selections ($.50 per play)... https://pinside.com/pinball/map/where-to-play/11547-mom-s-organic-market-college-park-md We will run a tournament starting at 11:30 AM, so you have time to practice beforehand. Tournament will be these 6 games: Medieval Madness, Twilight Zone, Dialed In, AC/DC, Wizard of Oz, and Ghostbusters.

  • True Respite Brewing Co. Meetup

    True Respite Brewing

True Respite is an experience far more than a name. It's a conscious choice to unlock the shackles of our ritualistic busyness and to instead be mindfully present in the beauty this life has to offer. It's finding catharsis in the beauty of an isolated seashore. It's the hush of a freshly fallen snow. It's the hair-raising surge of adrenaline moments before every skydiving experience. True Respite is the pure release found in taking a deliberate moment to relax and reflect on all of the incredible things that make this crazy life so beautiful. As always, Curt will be on-hand to talk about the beer and to conduct Brewery Tours. We will also be joined by the Tesla Owners Club of the Mid-Atlantic. (http://teslamidatlantic.club/) The Say Cheese! Food Truck will be at True Respite that day, serving up delicious gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. (http://saycheesefoodtruck.com) Group Special - 10% off your Tap Room bill. Note: We can call you a taxi or UBER if necessary; please be responsible! Thank you for your consideration!
