CLASS LINE-UP & SCHEDULE
(Classes with Chia-Ti unless otherwise noted)
10:30 am – 12:00 pm: SIVANANDA YOGA
Enjoy a rejuvenating morning with classical hatha yoga! The Sivananda style incorporates pranayama (breathing exercises) as well as relaxation between each of its standard 12 poses. Sivananda Yoga believes in 5 points for health and well-being: Proper exercise (asana), Proper breathing (pranayama), Proper Rest (savasana), Proper Diet, and Positive Thinking.
12:15 pm – 1:00 pm: WALKING MEDITATION
Walking meditation is a form of meditation in action. Instead of sitting silently on meditation cushions, we will be using the experience of walking as a way to focus and calm the mind. Walking meditation can be especially beneficial for those who have trouble with seated meditation or who are easily distracted. You will be guided with detailed instructions and we will do walking meditation as a group.
1:15 pm – 3:15 pm: THAI BODYWORK
Also called "Lazy Man's Yoga," Thai bodywork rejuvenates and relaxes by stretching, pressing, and working on the energy lines of the body. Bringing calm to the mind and spirit, it also benefits one's physical health, as increased life energy help boost the nervous, circulatory, muscular, lymphatic, and digestive systems. In this class, you will learn and practice basic massage techniques. ** Please note: You will be working in pairs but it is not necessary to come with someone.
3:30 pm – 4:30 pm: TAI CHI SELF-DEFENSE
Master Tom, founder of Iron Silk Martial Arts, will lead this workshop. Using movements from the Northern Wu style of Tai Chi, Master Tom will show you simple techniques for self-defense and also focus on breathing for daily health. You will have a chance to follow the movements in a group setting, as well as partner up to practice the self-defense moves.
