I lived in Portland, OR from 2002 - 2010, and although I'm a native southerner, living in the Pacific NW turned me into a trail and forest lover. Even though I love Raleigh, I miss my connection with the outdoors and would love to have a group to explore with - I know we have wonderful trails in NC, but I haven't explored them yet and am anxious to do so. I'm particularly interested in this group because while I'd like to have a group to walk with and encourage me to get outside, my job often exerts all of my extroverted energy, and being able to be with other like-minded folks - without the pressure to engage in conversation all the time - is really appealing to me.
Yes! But it's in Oregon. Multnomah Falls and the Columbia River Gorge were a fifteen minute drive from my house in Portland, and I loved that I could feel like I was completely removed from civilization, yet still so close to home. The hikes along the Gorge are what turned me from a couch-loving bookworm to a woman who loves the outdoors.
