Parking: There is limited free parking in NM's Visitor Parking Lot, located at 777 N. Cass Street, and in their Inter Campus Lot, 820 N. Van Buren Street. Additional parking is available at the 611 parking lot located on Van Buren between Michigan and Wisconsin Avenue on the west side. Presentation: Hamilton Faris, Northwestern Mutual's Head of Enterprise Data & Analytics, will talk about building capacity for data and analytics for monetization of a start up business.
Talk is targeting the start up week entrepreneurial spirit – data can be monetized to generate revenue and analytics can be leveraged to garner further lift of business product or service.
Bio: As Head of Enterprise Data & Analytics, Hamilton Faris is responsible for NorthwesternMutual’s overall data and analytics strategy. Hamilton joined the Northwestern Mutualand LearnVest companies in 2016 with an objective to position and realize Data andAnalytics as an accelerator for a uniquely insights-driven and digitally enabled future.Most recently, Hamilton was Vice President - Head of Global Data Strategy & InsightsDelivery for MetLife.
Hamilton’s career started out in state government as a civil engineer, but quickly founddata and software to be his passion. Within a few years, Hamilton took an opportunity,in 1997, as a Solutions and Data Architect with Aurum Software, a California-basedCRM and Sales-Force Automation software vendor, consulting on engagements with companies such asFord Motor and Visteon, United Parcel Services, Akzo-Nobel, Lanier, Lexis-Nexis, and MetLife.
Hamilton joined MetLife in 2000, starting in IT as a lead systems architect, and eventually heading SolutionsArchitecture for the former Institutional line of business. During his tenure in IT Architecture, Hamiltonbecame recognized for his business acumen and data-centric approach to solving complex problems.
In 2009, Hamilton was asked to return to MetLife to co-found and lead the Data & Analytics practice for theUS Business. Quickly realizing measurable financial benefits, he was able to rapidly evolve the unit into avalue creation center across the entire business value chain, serving as the in-house end-to-end data andanalytics practice. By 2013, the Data Sciences & Services group expanded to support MetLife’s Americasdivision. Then in 2015, Hamilton was asked to take on a global role, combining Business Advisory, DataSciences, and Technology to drive the delivery of data and insights across all of MetLife’s regionalbusinesses.
Hamilton is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering(1994). He is actively involved in a number of local community service organizations including Dad’s Night.Hamilton lives in New Jersey with his wife, Lisa, and their three children.
