What we're about

The Milwaukee Drone Users Group (or MKE DUG) is a group for responsible, legal, and ethical model aircraft enthusiasts, current and potential commercial and non-recreational SUAS operators, and cool people in general. It is also a chance for us to stand around with cool sunglasses, big watches, and talk while we swoosh our hands through the air. All conversations must begin with "so there I was..."

If members are aircraft modelers, we greatly encourage them to join the Academy of Model Aeronautics ( http://www.modelaircraft.org/) and operate in accordance with their operating standards ( https://www.modelaircraft.org/files/105.pdf). Any recreational flying activities related to this group will be conducted by these standards so that we don't put the sport at risk.

Commercial/non-recreational UAS users are also greatly encouraged to operate in accordance with the FAA's rules and regulations which are still being developed at this time, but more information can be found here: https://www.faa.gov/uas/

For details about the group or additional information about anything discussed above, feel free to reach out to me. I'm more than willing to help in any way I can.

-Peter Menet

Monthly MKE-DUG meetup

Football field South of Linwood Water Treatment Facility

This is an ongoing open invitation for people in the drone community to meet up the 3rd Monday of each month. This is not a formal hosted event, it is just meant as a starting place for those interested in all things drones. The soccer field located to the South of the Linnwood Water Treatment facility is on the edge of Milwaukee's airspace and near a hospital helipad (Columbia St. Marys). If you choose to fly, ensure you stay below 400-ft and follow all of the rules for recreational or Part 107 operations. If you don't know what I'm talking about, this is a good place to start: https://www.faa.gov/uas/ Members are encouraged to contact me or post events to the discussion section when they know of one occurring. I only sporadically attend the events due to my busy schedule so if you need something feel free to reach out to me directly. -Peter
