App Dev Clinic

For those interested in building an app for the WindowsStore, we'll be holding regular App Dev Clinic sessions.

Start with just an idea or a project that's already in progress. Come alone or as a team. We'll start with pitches and assess where everyone is to make sure we're all moving forward together.

We'll also have a key topic to focus on, as well as one-on-one sessions. By meeting for a couple hours regularly, we can dedicate time to getting those apps done. Each meeting will be an iteration and have milestones. The goal is to get apps ready to ship!

This group is meant to be a safe environment for sharing ideas and learning together, and active participation is necessary.

Where else can you find metaphors comparing apps to cocaine?!?!

Thanks to Rich for an exciting and synergistic meeting. Rich's multifaceted presentation encouraged the group's creativity and entrepreneurship, touching on aspects such as user experience, user feedback, and the app store.

There are some samples of Windows 8 Apps on the MSDN website if anyone is interested http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps

That is a great starting point to look at some of the capabilities.

Great dialog and lots of excellent ideas!

This was a great starting point and hopefully the coming meetings will help everyone get their app done and shipped.

Kudos to Rich on a great meeting. Rich gave a high level overview to developing apps and touched on the different aspects of the app store. There was a lot of sharing and interaction. No one felt threatened about their ideas for possible apps. I think our biggest problem is going to be how to spent the $$$... :)) I'm ready for the next steps...

Also, please be aware that the App Dev Clinics are at a different location than the regular group meetings.

There is parking in the front lot and rear lot; but DO NOT park in the front lot in spaces with signs for MTA.

It's a good idea to bring some kind of notebook/sketchbook - to help ideate the vision for your app.

I will try to attend if possible.

If you miss this one you can get started another time. While we're meeting collectively, the goal is to work with each one's progress and goals individually.

Too bad you can't make it; but we'll carry on with your blessing. There will be more so don't worry.

For those attending, be sure to come equipped with the necessary hardware to develop an app!
