Wednesday Magic In Everett Presents EDH Night

  • TGI Friday's

33 Mystic View Road, Everett, MA (map)

    42.400806 -71.068794

  • Come join David and friends for a night of Magic: The Gathering over at TGI Friday's in Everett. This event is part of our "Wednesday Night Magic" series.

It doesn't matter if you are an expert "planeswalker", or don't know anything about Magic: The Gathering -- you can come to play or learn this amazing strategy game.  There are usually between 6-16 people at each event, consisting of all experience levels.  All decks of all types are welcome for this "casual play" event.  Beginners who want to learn are welcome!

This location is easily accessible from Rt. 16, Rt. 28 and Rt. 93, and is walking distance from the T. Here is a map of the area.

By Subway: Take the Orange Line to Wellington. There is a bus (97 & 99) that will take you to the Gateway Center Mall complex where you'll find TGI Fridays. Or if you want to walk just walk out to Rt. 16 (Revere Beach PKWY) taking a right (East) at the radio station and towers. Walk over the bridge going east on Rt. 16. Once you cross the bridge you want to stay right at which you will come to Mystic View Road. This will take you right to The Gateway Center Mall. As you get half way down the street you will see Target and The Texas Road House. You want to head towards the Texas Road House, once you do that you will see TGI Friday's.

By Car: If you are driving from Rt. 93 from the south to the north you want to exit the to Rt. 28 north to Rt. 16 east. You want to go Rt. 16 east to Revere and Everett staying in the right hand lane. Same is true for those of you who are coming from Rt. 28 south to Rt. 16 east. You will go over two bridges, once you are over the second bridge you want to stay to the right where you will turn down the Mystic View Road. This will take you right to The Gateway Center Mall. As you get half way down the street you will see Target and The Texas Road House. You want to head towards the Texas Road House, once you do that you will see TGI Friday's. If you are coming from Rt. 93 from the north going south you want to take the exit that will take you to Rt. 16. You want to follow Rt. 16 east. When you see Kelly's Roastbeef you know you are going in right direction. Follow the same instruction as if had just turned right from Rt. 28 to Rt. 16.

Hi! I'm new to the group and I'm thinking about going to this since one of my other EDH groups has temporarily disbanded for the month of December. A few questions:

    1. What's the general competitiveness of the group? (A dollar amount for the average budget works.) Any other general expectations? I have various decks across the whole spectrum of competitiveness, strategies, and budgetary constraints and I want to make sure I'm bringing the right things.

    2. Chances are I won't be able to get there until 6:30pm-- is that OK? Do you think I'd still be able to fit in a game or two if I arrived at that time?

Hi, I'm David the group host. We are a very casual group and play across the spectrum in terms of decks. We don't play to dominate. But with that in mind if your deck does something crazy and ends up dominating that's a part of the game. We only ask that if you want to play a certain type of deck explain what it does and we will most likely love it. We don't discourage a player's preference. We just advocate fairness. I play mid-range deck types. Mostly ground pounding decks. But I do have a deck or two that can compete but not very dominating. We meet to have fun and good conversation. And if we meet new people that share the same interests the better. So I welcome you with open arms and a wary eye on thy deck.

And now about your second question. We start @ 5:30 play until 9:30-10:00 or so. I arrive around 6:30 myself. It should be no problem getting in at least a couple of games.
