Casual MTG at Eagle and Empire in Alexandria

Casual MTG at Eagle and Empire in Alexandria

Details

It’s time once again for Casual MTG – where the cool kids play cards like Viking space ninjas.

We will be getting together this Thursday the 25th from 5:30-10pm at Eagle and Empire Games, located at 1520 Belle View Boulevard in Alexandria:

IMPORTANT: THIS IS A SIX PERSON (MAX) EVENT! Our reserved table only holds six people, so if you plan on attending, please RSVP to ensure that you have a seat!

Since our events are multiplayer, please try to arrive on time. There’s plenty of free parking and food options are available. Note that E&E closes promptly at 10pm, and the owner asks that all drinks have containers w/ caps.

The Group:

This is a steadily growing group that meets every other weekday. We are all casual players - working folks with families and kids. Some veterans, some not, but all are welcome. If you enjoy trying out new decks, helping others learn, and a low stress, easy going vibe, then come on by and join in the fun!

The Format:

Format is EDH/Commander, w/ perhaps some other formats as time allows. If you're just getting back into the game, feel free to bring along what you have, and we'll make it work (we always have extra EDH decks you can borrow!). New to EDH/Commander? Check out http://mtgcommander.net/rules.php for all you need to know!

How We Role:

  1. We play for fun. That means we allow ‘take backs’ (within reason, of course). It means we allow others to help you (but only when you ask for help - we don’t ever want players to feel like they’re being ‘told’ how to play). Mostly, though, it means we don’t tolerate general meanness.

  2. We support our venue. Honestly, if you owned a business, the last thing you would want is people squatting at a table for hours, just taking up space. If we’re at a game shop, try to buy something. Because…well my goodness, moochers do suck.

  3. We encourage the use of proxies. Our general rule of thumb for proxies is, “So long as you aren’t proxying simply for the sheer beat down value of the card (Mox’s, Time Walk, 4th Edition Dual Lands, etc.), then basically you’re good”. The idea of proxing is to access cards (that are either too expensive or hard to find) for the fun value, not the win value (http://magic.bluebones.net/proxies/ and http://magiccards.info are excellent resources).
