This event has passed
due to the current situation, we cannot meet in person. However, we hope you seek new information even in these times, so we decided to make an online event.
Join us on Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/216491994 (while it is possible to connect by web browser, we recommend installing the Zoom client from https://zoom.us/download).
We will start with Anastázie Sedláková’s talk about Gestalt Principles in Data Visualisation (30-45min), followed by a discussion and socializing in Zoom breakout rooms. The only thing we cannot provide this time is 🍺 and 🍕, so please, bring your own.
Abstract of the talk:
Data visualization is an art. You have the message that you want to share using your graph. How to share this message clearly using plots? One of the things that can help us create your visualization using gestalt principles, which describe how we perceive the world through our eyes. These principles are widely used in the design, but we can use them also for better data visualizations.
Anastazie (Nasťa) did her PhD in the field of statistical genetics and worked a few years as a bioinformatician. She then moved outside of biology and academia into the financial world. Nasťa currently works as a freelance data scientist consultant helping companies to use data for decision-making processes and to build analytics-based data products. Together with her husband, they organize programming courses for adults with a focus on data analysis.
