LAIN MATSUOKA is a Machine Learning Engineer at Mercari. Her talk will cover one of the most complex things that users exhaust: Determining price. A price suggestion service eliminates the pain through providing users with a good price estimate of the items they’re trying to list. The service is operated in a Kubernetes cluster and our ML platform, Lykeion, is used to seamlessly deliver and serve the system.

SHREYA SHARMA is a Data Science Researcher at NEC Corporation Japan. She has 3+ years of research experience in computer vision and deep learning, especially in the field of geospatial analytics. Ever wondered about tracking ships while sitting at your computer? Or detecting changes in amazon forest using satellite images? In this talk, Shreya will share her work on two interesting geospatial applications - ship monitoring and change detection - and will show how they help to make our planet more secure.

LANA SINAPAYEN is and Artificial Life and Artificial Intelligence researcher. Her main interests are the emergence of cognitive functions such as predictive coding, and evolutionary dynamics leading to open ended systems. Artificial Life is a little known field spanning disciplines as diverse as Informatics, Chemistry and Robotics. In her talk she will give a brief overview of the field and its main research questions.
