What we're about

Made by Momma is a volunteer-run and donation-driven impact-focused organization and registered Canadian Charity that provides wholesome nourishment and nurturing care to mothers and young children facing situations of adversity and crisis.
This meetup group is for our wonderful team of volunteers who support our charity.

We support mothers with young children who are dealing with an illness or injury, new mothers who need some extra time to bond with their new baby or mothers in situations of adversity or in times of crisis.

Services we provide include:

* Providing wholesome homemade meals and baked goods to mothers recovering from illness, injury or who need some extra time while establishing breastfeeding or bonding with a new baby. We can alter recipes to meet special dietary needs.

* We provide in-home support to mothers feeling overwhelmed or who require some much-needed rest. We can also help care for older children while a mother bonds with her new baby.

* We can give breastfeeding support and encouragement.

* Our volunteers can do a quick house clean/tidy to allow mothers with special health needs time to focus on themselves and their children.

* Occasionally we may also have knit items, spa or salon services or other indulgences and comfort items to offer depending on what our current volunteer pool is able to provide!

This Meetup group will help coordinate activities and events among Made by Momma volunteers and members. We will also support other local organizations and groups with similar ideals as well as promoting the "mothers helping mothers" philosophy.

COBS Bread Bagging Crew (SATURDAY)

Made by Momma Resource Centre

NEW TIME!!!!

***PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A SATURDAY!***

Our COBS Bread location is changing their store closing hours, therefore we must change the bread bagging time frame.

We require volunteers at the Resource Centre to help us bag donated COBS bread for our weekly client delivery and pickups!

Each week we get the end of day bread/buns/sweets donated from the Glenmore Landing COBS Bakery. We have 2 volunteers pick up the bread each Tuesday & Saturday evening at 8pm and bring it to the Resource Centre.
***If you are able to take on the bread pick up job weekly or even once per month, please send us a message!***

This is a fairly simple volunteer job but is needed every week. This volunteer job takes approximately one hour. The bread arrives unpackaged and we must bag it so that it can go out with deliveries for the week.

Responsibilities:
• Liaise with team lead
• Sanitize work surfaces before and after shift
• Wear gloves when handling bread items
• Medium / Long hair should be tied back
• Clean out the bread bins
• Ensure the kitchen area is left well organized and tidy
• After this volunteer shift, clean up includes sanitizing all counters, sweeping the floors, taking out the garbage and recycling etc.
• Other related tasks as needed

If you have not volunteered for the Bread Bagging Crew before, please let us know and we will give you a short introduction to how it works when you arrive!

We look forward to seeing you!

Volunteers MUST be able to be at the MBM RC by 8:15pm (unless you are the one picking the bread up) and everyone MUST stay until the clean up is complete.
