For Makers Meetup #17 we will be featuring four great local Makers: Annee London, Augean Robotics, Lightning Packs, and Tozuda.
The program, networking and pizza will kick off at 5:00 with a table-top Showcase featuring the presenting companies as well as UPenn student, Evan Weinstein who will be demonstrating his 3D chocolate printer.
The formal presentation will begin promptly at 6:30, hosted by Dr. Evan Malone. The program is free, but space is limited, so sign up now to reserve your seat.

Rachel Benyola, is the founder & CEO of AnneeLondon, a game changer brand with revolutionary products that are stylish, convenient and safe for today's active and recreational cyclists alike. Rachel is the inventor of the only modern helmet that's 70% foldable, stylish and twice as safe. She built this folding helmet in response to a close friend losing her eyesight in a bike crash that could have been prevented with a helmet. Rachel is the recipient of the young entrepreneur of the year award and recognized on the alumni 40 under 40 list both from Drexel University. Lawrence Rome

Lawrence (Larry) Rome received his A.B from Dartmouth College and PhD in Biology from Harvard University. He did postdocs in the UK and Harvard Medical School, took his first faculty position at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) and then moved to the University of Pennsylvania in 1989 where he is Professor of Biology. Throughout this period Rome has also been a Whitman Investigator at the Marine Biological Lab in Woods Hole, MA. Rome’s focus is muscle mechanics and energetics, and he specializes in fish muscle, locomotion and sound production. He invented the “Suspended-load Backpack”: an electricity-generating version and an ergonomic version which were published in Science (2005) and Nature (2006) respectively. He founded Lightning Packs LLC to develop the packs and serves as the Chief Scientific Officer. He is the lead inventor on 5 US, 2 European, 3 Canadian and 1 Australian issued patent as well as other pending foreign patents. He has published over 90 papers in his field and has directed over $15 million of R&D projects.
Charlie Andersen
Augean Robotics
Charlie Andersen founded Augean Robotics to reduce the misery of hand-labor on farms and elsewhere. Prior to Augean Robotics, he worked for Case New Holland assisting the leader of a $2.5B farm/construction machinery division with a turnaround. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BA in Geology and Political Science from Amherst College. He grew up on a working farm obsessed with machinery and technology, has made every piece of furniture he owns, and loves building great products and assembling great teams.
