What we're about

Welcome, brother!

ManKind Pride Chicago is an informal group of GBTQ men who are part of the larger community of The Mankind Project - Chicago (http://chicago.mkp.org/). We host gatherings where men can be their authentic selves, receive other men fully, and support each other. We really like being with each other and hope you'll join us sometime.

This MeetUp is for any GBTQ-identified or questioning man. You don't need to be a part of MKP. If you have any questions about this group or MKP, feel free to contact one of the organizers directly.

***

In addition to occasional special events, we host two recurring monthly circles:

■ GBTQ+ Monthly Open Men's Group (2nd Wednesdays) - For men interested in getting a taste of what men's work is about.

■ GBTQ+ Coffee & a Story (1st Saturdays) - A casual gathering to share and listen to personal stories around a proposed theme.

See the group Upcoming Events for more info!

__________

The ManKind Project (MKP) supports a global network of over 1,000 peer-facilitated men’s groups serving close to 10,000 men each week. MKP empowers men to serve themselves and others, supporting them to make a difference in their communities and the world. MKP's flagship training, the New Warrior Training Adventure (http://nwta.mkp.org/), is described by many as the most powerful men’s training available. MKP is not affiliated with any religious practice or political party. We strive to be increasingly inclusive and affirming of cultural differences, especially with respect to color, class, sexual orientation, faith, age, ability, ethnicity, and nationality.

ManKind Project Open Men's Group and the GBTQ Community

The purpose of the ManKind Project is to create a safer world through the development of “better” men. We train and support men in circles to create a world where men act on their individual and shared responsibility to foster a brighter future for humanity. We initiate and support men on a path of emotional maturity, spiritual awareness, and deepening community.

As members of the GBTQ community, we face the added challenge and gift of belonging to a marginalized group. We recognize our collective experiences of feeling unwelcome in many communities and spaces. Therefore, out of necessity, we band together to create and celebrate in our own safe-spaces. Through this spirit, we welcome all who seek to share this connection.

Open Men's Groups are regularly scheduled gatherings that help introduce men to the experience of connecting and being present with other men. These Groups provide an opportunity for men to practice authentic sharing, reflection, and deeper connection with one another in an open, authentic, and supportive setting.

What We Practice in our Open Men's Groups:

Emotional Authenticity – Because we believe in honesty and wholeness, we practice emotional intelligence and self-awareness.

Personal Responsibility – Because we value integrity and accountability, we take 100% responsibility for our feelings. We own the impacts – positive and negative –intended and unintended – of our choices and actions.

Leadership Mastery – Because we believe that role models change lives, we practice highly principled personal, interpersonal, and group leadership.

Empowered Mission – Because we value generosity, service, and connection to spirit, we explore and live from our deepest purpose.

Supportive Community – Because we care for ourselves and the generations to come, we create a place for men from all walks of life to learn and teach in a safe, respectful, challenging, and inclusive peer-network.
