Steph Locke - R for Reporting

In this talk, we’re going to look at how we can get started using R for reporting.

We’ll look at building dashboards, from connecting to our database, wrangling our data, to presenting good looking charts back to the user.

Andy Cross - Productionising a Modern Data Platform Application

Modern Data Applications are difficult to build from getting executive buy in to getting it to production. Elastacloud propose Business AI as a framework for executive adoption and Lean Analytics as a set of rules to make data science more streamlined and productive. It touches on many aspects of what a data scientist should be and how a data science project should be defined to be successful.

During this presentation Andy will present why execs hate to back data science projects, where data science projects go wrong, how you should think of data science projects, what constitutes success in data science and how you can measure progress. This session will be loaded with terms, stories and descriptions of project successes and failures. If you're wondering whether you're getting value out of data science, how to get more value out of it and even whether you need it then this talk is for you!
