What we're about

WELCOME TO MANCHESTER PUBS AND BEER

Hello and welcome to the Manchester Pubs and Beer Group!

YOUR GROUP

This is the group for anyone who likes to visit pubs and who appreciates our unique pub heritage. We try to arrange a wide variety of events which don't just concentrate on the popular bars in the obvious areas of town!e

Manchester Pubs and Beer is certainly the group for you if you enjoy trying different beers, ciders and perries, but also if you prefer wine, cocktails, soft drinks or whatever and enjoy trying different pubs and bars in different places.

YOUR EVENTS

Each month we have a FIRST FRIDAY SOCIAL on...the first Friday of the month! We try to have one DAY OUT each month to somewhere within easy travelling distance of Manchester.

We also have other pub crawls, pub quiz visits and of course visits to BEER (AND CIDER!) FESTIVALS.

YOUR SUGGESTIONS

Members are welcome to suggest and host events. Pop a short note into the Discussions area of the Meetup site.

YOUR FACEBOOK GROUP

We have a companion OFFICIAL Manchester Pubs and Beer Facebook group which all are welcome to join, where we can share ideas about events, pub, beer and other related news.

OUR BEHAVIOUR

Finally, the group is for people who enjoy sensible drinking, enjoy beer and enjoy pubs. There are few rules other than that you are old enough to drink legally, but we expect members to treat each other and the places we visit with respect and courtesy at all times. Abusive behaviour of any type, whether at events, in comments on the site or other social media will not be tolerated.

As with other Meetup groups, the aim is to bring people together with a common interest. The Meetup group and Meetup itself take no responsibility for members' actions- you participate in events entirely at your own risk!

Do take a look at our forthcoming events and RSVP to any you'd like to come along to. A warm welcome awaits!

Cheers!

Beer in the Valley Festival Dronfield

Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station

Following last Year's successful group visit to this unique annual beer festival I thought we would go again!! It is one not to miss as it is very different . It involves around 8 pubs this year and local breweries opening their doors all within walking distance or via a short bus ride. There is also a camra beer festival taking place at the pioneer social club which we visited last year who also offer food. This again is a short journey accessible by local buses at reasonable fares. You can do as many pubs as you want and in any order. Many serve food and have live music on the day. Most have nice beer gardens to enjoy with marquees at some. The event is in Dronfield and its surrounds, on the edge of the Peak District and most set in lovely countryside. The pubs serve other drinks as well for the non real ale drinkers. TRAVEL IS EASY. I have chosen the 11.42 hrs service from Manchester Piccadilly arrives Sheffield 12.35. Change at Sheffield for the 13.05 Northern Service arrive Dronfield 13.15hrs. This is ideal for us to start by taking lunch in Dronfield town centre before going further afield. Return trains depart at 2 mins past the hour at 18.02, and 19.02 change at Sheffield depart Sheffield at 13 mins past the hour arrive Manchester at 19.37 and 20.37 respectively. Please note I will not be joining you at Manchester Piccadilly Station, but will board your train at Sheffield station. I am familiar with most of the pubs and there are some new ones to try this year. It is organised in part by Chesterfield Camra. It is ENTIRELY FREE PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS WOULD BE A DIFFICULT EVENT TO JOIN THE REST OF THE GROUP AT A LATER TIME DUE TO LOGISTICS OF THE LOCATIONS AND BUS ROUTES AND TIMES, SO BE PREPARED TO DEPART FROM MANCHESTER or MEET AT DRONFIELD STATION ON THE CHOSEN TRAIN. More info is available from the festival's facebook event page. My contact number for queries etc[masked]

Pleasant Village Sunday

The Goose

Shona and Roseanne invite you to a relaxed afternoon exploring the contrasting pubs and bars of Manchester's world famous gay village. We start off at one of the area's long standing traditional pubs The Goose, by the coach station. Then it's on to No 1 Canal Street, better known to many by its previous name Taurus. Next stop is right next door at Velvet bar. We move along the street a little way to Via (previously Via Fossa). Our final stop is the outstanding Molly House, a pub noted for its atmosphere and real ale. A great afternoon and early evening in this unique and vibrant part of the city
