Why do we need to practice meditation? The reason is that the real source of happiness is inner peace. When our mind is peaceful we naturally experience inner calm and happiness. Meditation that is taught in Buddha's teachings is the method to develop the positive qualities of mind and gives rise to inner peace and leads us to experience happiness. This is the same for everyone.
If you attend many classes, why not consider a Centre Card?
It's £30 a month and all regular classes are included. For more information, click here:

Prayers For World Peace
An In-person, Free Meditation Class at Chorlton
2:00 – 3:00pm
with Kadampa Teachers Julie and Marco.

Event is free. No need to book - just turn up!

Join us on Sundays and feel empowered to change yourself and change the world. These classes include a guided meditation, short teaching and beautiful chanted prayers for world peace. The focus is on solutions to problems in daily life, including genuine optimism through the development of altruism.

By learning to cherish others we can experience greater peace of mind and help to establish world peace in general. Through contemplating these prayers compiled by Geshe Kelsang from traditional sources, we learn to cherish others. If everyone sincerely prays to be able to cherish others, then gradually through the power of this prayer, everyone will actually cherish each other. The world will then be permanently at peace, and pure and everlasting happiness will pervade the entire world.

Meditation Class in Bolton

Branch meditation class in Bolton at the Friends Meeting House with Kelsang Thonchog.

This class will happen most Tuesdays, but please check on the main website (see link) to make sure that it is on this week, as the information on the main website is more reliable than Meetup:

The website will also give more information about the class and a list of upcoming topics.

A typical class consists of a guided meditation, a teaching based on the meditation topic, discussion and final meditation. Although classes are given as a series around one specific topic, they can also be taken individually, as each class is also contained.

Classes last between one hour to 1.5 hours.
Chair and cushions (where possible) are provided by the Centre. There is no physical exercise, yoga, or stretching involved.

The Friends Meeting House is a well established building in Bolton and we have been running classes on Silverwell Street for over 10 years. The classes will be held in the Main Hall which is on the ground floor to the right.

The Friends Meeting House does ask that people wear face coverings in the building until they are seated in the room.
