Tall tales and short stories, true tales and big fat lies. Old ones and new ones, scary ones and funny ones. Whatever kind of story you like, you'll find them here at the Success Stories Club. If you love to tell stories (or prefer just to sit back, relax and listen to them) then this is the place for you. We meet every month to share tales on themes such as 'Tales of Drunken nights', 'Manchester Tales' or 'Tales of Wonderful Women'. We have an annual Fright Night and a Biggest Liar of the Year contest too. A warm welcome awaits you, so come along and experience the amazing world of live storytelling at what has been described as 'The friendliest club in the North West.' Poets and singers are also welcome. ‘The Success Stories club is the nicest, most encouraging, inspirational and culturally-enhancing gathering of genuinely talented artists I have ever encountered during a life time spent sharing words in public houses, church halls, Masonic halls, town halls and the street corners,’ says award-winning performance poet and raconteur Pennant Roberts.
The theme for the stories this month is WAKE UP CALLS... a theme that can be interpreted in SO many ways.
For example, you can interpret it literally with a tale about the alarm clock that never went off with disastrous / hilarious / terrifying / heartwarming results.
Or take a different tack and consider that we've all had one of those moments of sudden realisation... those moments of 'This has got to change!'
Do you have a story about one of those moments?
Or can you put a completely different interpretation on the theme?
Come along and hear some great storytellers put their unique spin on it or join in with a tale of your own.
There is never any pressure to tell a tale but if you want a slot, it's yours (8 minutes max please so that everyone gets a go).
The stories can be true tale or fiction, an original work or a classic / traditional tale... even a song or a poem as long as there's a story of sorts in it.
The audience decides who wins the title of 'Teller of the Night' and a place in our 'Storyteller of the Year' contest.
At the end of the evening, why not have a go at our '1-Minute Wonders' contest where people try to tell a whole tale in as close to 60 seconds as they can.
It's a great night out for tellers and listeners alike. Everyone is welcome and it's so much better than a night in front of the telly!!!!

We meet upstairs at the Excelsior Club in Sale. Please note that, sadly, the room we use is only accessible by two flights of stairs.
