Kierkegaard, Fear and Trembling: "Eulogy on Abraham"

This time we will discuss the "Eulogy on Abraham."

The related Biblical passages are as follows:
Hebrews 11:8-19, Numbers 20:11, Genesis 35:22-23 and 37:3

If you're reading from the Hong and Hong edition, you may also wish to read the related selections from the Hong and Hong supplement.

t doesn't really matter which translation of Fear and Trembling you are using, nor does it matter which version of the Bible you read. I will be using the Hong and Hong translation of Fear and Trembling and an electronic version of of the ESV with Strong's numbers which provides the Hebrew and the Greek.

My apologies to anyone who couldn't find the meeting location. We'll do a better job with signage next week. For those who made it, thanks for the great discussion.

    Hi Zach,

I was wondering if the "theological concerns" of this meet up would also be open to non-theistic religions of the East (Taoism, Buddhism, etc..). I'm particularly interested in exploring the influences of Eastern non-dualism and the Kyoto School (Japanese existentialists with Zen influence) with Nietzsche, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty and the existentialists. Nishitani Keiji from the Kyoto School studied with Heidegger during his seminars on Nietzsche, so there is definitely a direct link between some of these schools of thought. Anyway, just curious if you'd be open to exploring this in the distant future.
