Founded over fifty years ago, this club is all about buttons. Buttons reflect the history of societies, the use of materials, the study of design. When George Washington was inaugurated, twenty-two different button designs were made listing 13 states or the slogan "GW - Long Live the President." Early buttons were forged of pewter. Buttons reflect the period in which they were made: Art Nouveau, Art Deco, etc. There are all kind of reasons to collect buttons. Remember Grandma and her Button box.
We meet the second Saturday of the month at 10 am at Christ Lutheran Church, 3810 Meredith Dr., Fairfax, VA. 22030.
Our meeting consists of a presentation by a member on a Button topic, Show and Tell by members, and, of course, there are buttons to buy.
