Reactive Dog Training- New members must be evaluated prior to first class.

Reactive Dog Class- Need help communicating with your dog "reactive dog"? Reactive is the term coined by dog trainers and owners who own dogs that overreact to certain stimuli. It might be the sight of other dogs, people, kids, loud noises and chaos. The dog’s reaction to these stimuli is usually a bark and lunge type of behavior that scares the pants off both the person or dog being barked at and the person holding the leash. If you own a dog like this take heart, there are many of us who share those embarrassing moments with you and through training you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. This ongoing class is for anybody wishing to have a calmer more accepting dog when out and about. Learn how to get your dog to focus on and follow you, rather than the things he/she finds disturbing, thus causing a bad reaction. First time members must call Mark at[masked] to set up an evaluation PRIOR to attending the first class. This can be done 30 minutes prior to class. Class takes place at our 10,000 sq. foot boarding and training center in Germantown MD. We walk outside and then continue in our agility/training room. Class Cost is $30 per session paid prior to class. Goals of the class: Assess the severity and source of your dog’s reactivity. Set up controlled exercises and real life scenarios Block antisocial stimuli and signaling through the use of Come, Sit and Watch commands • What to bring Dog, Favorite leash and collar, treats! • Important to know First time members must call Mark at[masked] to set up an evaluation PRIOR to attending first class. No extendable leashes please!

Tricks Training- Learning even just a few basic tricks is fun for you, your dog.

Tricks Class at Pack Place K9 is limited to 5 participants Cost is $20 per class. BY MARIAN DEANGELO - Check our her video on YouTube Training a dog to do fun (or funny!) tricks helps many owners let go of their expectations and just “be in the moment” of training their dog to do something in small steps. Perhaps it’s because the goal behaviors are “ just tricks,” rather than behaviors that they feel their dogs must learn, lest they be judged as “bad owners”! YOUR DOG’S CONFIDENCE WILL INCREASE. Recently, an elated student in my tricks class told me t hat since she started teaching her dog tricks, the dog was showing signs of conf idence, an interest in training, and an overall enthusiasm that my student had not seen before. She had no idea that this is ofen the case in tricks class! YOUR DOG WILL LEARN TO WORK WITH DISTRACTIONS. Tricks classes present a dog with many distractions, but if you consistently reward your dog for watching you and listening for your cues, soon your dog will pay much less attention to extraneous stimuli in any setting when you ask him to focus. This ability to focus on you will come in handy when walking outdoors; it even increases your dog’s safety while walking with you near busy streets or crowded areas.

Pack Walk! Saturday Master the Walk - Learn to calmly meet other dogs on leash.

FREE ! Pack Walk Meet at Pack Place K9 Parking lot in Germantown and then take a walk on a nature trail to Gunners lake. Out and back gentle walk of 45 minutes on a gravel path. Please keep dogs separate until after we start our walk. The key is to walk in the same direction for a bit before any close interactions. Our handlers will be available to help and answer any questions. Afterwards tour our new Center and fill our suggestion box with new meetup ideas! All dogs must stay on leash and please NO retractable leashes. Thanks, Mark

Puppy Socialization

Pack Place K9

Puppy Socialization at Pack Place K9 Goals of the Class: Early socialization is key to having a calm, confident dog. The greatest window of learning in a dog’s life starts is from 7 weeks to 20 weeks. This period allows puppies to be exposed to a wide variety of sights, sounds, smells and sensations without becoming fearful. Why does this matter? Because puppies who miss out on these experiences may never learn to be comfortable around unfamiliar things, paving the way for anxiety, fear and aggression later on in life. While socializing puppies takes time and effort, such efforts are well-spent and can be very enjoyable at the same time. Join us! Puppies should be done with second round of shots. Dogs 2 - 9 months and under 50 lbs are allowed. $10 per class
