Maryland Jedi Order - This Sunday!

From: user 8.
Sent on: Friday, December 19, 2008 3:00 PM
Greetings members of the Maryland Jedi Order. Some news, I was elected last Tuesday to be a member of the International High Council of the Jedi Church (one of thirteen members). As such, I will have the opportunity to influence how the Jedi movement makes an impact for good in our world. Our work at the Maryland Jedi Order is no less important. It is what we make of it as a group. I have included here some items for discussion on Sunday and some other thoughts.

Agenda for Meeting on December 21st at 2:00 pm (see website for more details)

? What kind of training do we want to offer? Example ? training in meditation, energy work for healing, Reiki, Qigong Practices, etc. Physical and mental training?. Here is a link with some discussions and resources:

? Emblem ? Does anyone have a talent for art who would like to design a Maryland Jedi Order emblem or symbol?

? Assist card ? A proposal to design a Jedi calling card. Each of us commits to doing something nice for someone anonymously and then leaves the Jedi card where they will find it. Example: After a heavy snowfall, go ahead and shovel the sidewalk and driveway of a neighbor, then leave the card on their doorstep. (see example of an assist card below)

Here is a Jedi Mantra developed by Master Zen Yobi of the Order of the Jedi Canada. I have permission to share this with you as I am a member of that order as well.

Jedi Mantra

It surrounds me, and penetrates me,
It binds me, and encompasses me,
It flows through me, It is all that I am.

It gives me light in darkness, and peace in chaos,
It focuses my thoughts, and balances my emotions,
It is nature, it is nurture, it is honor, it is respect.

It teaches me patience, it teaches me to observe,
It teaches me to listen, It teaches me to protect,
I am inspired by the energy it creates

It gives me knowledge, and awareness,
And through my experiences, I learn wisdom.
A part of the symbiont circle, a luminous being am I

At journeys end I will become one with it,
Accompanying me forever,
For always in motion it is,

May the light of the Force guide me and be with me always.

Proposed Goals and Ideals for the Jedi Order

? The Maryland Jedi Order is a circle with no strong leader.

? Jedi recognize seven major problem areas in the world: War, Poverty, Crime, Disease, Hatred, Violence, and Environmental Deprivation.

? We are open and affirming. Our order does not emphasize religion in the traditional sense, and as such, we welcome persons of all traditions, beliefs and religious affiliations. Intolerance will not be tolerated among our group. We only ask that efforts and actions be of a positive nature; not destructive. Although this may be subjective, it is a guideline that can be followed. For example, we do not condemn fighting back if attacked personally or nationally.

? Jedi recognize that outer pollution and conflict is ultimately caused by inner pollution and conflict. So it is the cause of each Jedi to foster inner peace and joy first and to help facilitate these qualities in others and society secondly.

? We encourage and support the individual efforts of our members in working towards their personal goals, and shall have collective activities and goals that members may consider participating in.

I look forward to meeting and talking with you this Sunday!
