AI Roundtable: Data Science Meets AI, with guest Kirk Borne

Our June session will feature data science authority Kirk Borne as expert guest for a TEDCO Maryland AI Roundtable discussion focusing on Data Science and AI.

Data science is an exploratory process that aims to discover meaningful
patterns in data and build value-producing (predictive and prescriptive) models. The work encompasses data sourcing, method development, model training, and visualization. AI may play integral role, in particular, via the use of machine learning and in solution deployment at the core of intelligent applications and systems. AI is a tool for boosting the entire data science process, from data sourcing all the way to application deployment.

Our June 8 discussion will focus on Data Science and AI. Our expert guest, Kirk Borne, recently joined early-stage startup DataPrime.ai in Columbia, MD as Chief Science Officer, and he consults via his new Data Leadership Group LLC and publishes at Rocket Data Science (http://rocketdatascience.org/). He was previously principal data scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton and, from 2003 to 2015, was Professor of Astrophysics and Computational Science at George Mason University and worked for nearly 20 years before that on data systems in astronomy at NASA. He holds a PhD in astronomy from the California Institute of Technology.
