The Eternals

Details

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will release the new "Eternals" movie in November of this year. We are going to prepare by reading the original series on which the movie is based, one of the great classics of the nineteen-seventies, "The Eternals," by Jack Kirby.

Jack Kirby is probably the most important creator in the history of American comics. Jack Kirby was the most important member of the teams who created hundreds of characters from Captain America to the X-Men to Wanda and the Vision. In the nineteen-seventies Jack Kirby created a completely new view of world history.

In this series, a fleet of giants from outer space came to earth at the dawn of history. These space giants call themselves "The Celestials." The Celestials transformed the human race into three species. The Celestials gave one species a wide range of shapes and powers, and they called them "The Deviants." The Deviants built fortresses under the earth and the seas. The Celestials gave another species great beauty, and an even greater range of powers, and they called this species "The Eternals." The Eternals built temples on the tops of mountains where they lived like gods. The Celestials left the third species the way it was, and they allowed the third species to multiply and cover the earth with gutters and dens. We call this breed "humans."

After thousands of years the Celestials return to earth and build a fortress of their own in the Andes mountains. The Celestials make one thing clear. The Celestials will spend fifty years judging the population of the Earth. If the Earth fails the test, the Celestials will have no mercy. The Celestials will kill every human and Deviant and Eternal down to the last child.
