It actually belongs to a friend but he lost interest and let me have it for more than a year now ;)

Sorry for bothering everyone but I started a discussion on Meetup about German/NORDE layout support in future keycap group buys. Anyone interested in that please check the discussion: https://www.meetup.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-Meetup-Rhein-Main/messages/boards/thread/50343889

Hey everyone! Thanks for coming by, we really had a great afternoon! I learned a lot and envied a lot of great keyboards. :D

I will post pictures later this week!

It would be great, if you could give us some feedback:http://bitly.com/mechanicon. It was our first event of this kind and we want to learn from it :)

Big thanks to all our sponsors! I think we had a great raffle and very cool giveaways.

And a big thank you goes out to all the attendees that donated a bit to cover our costs! Our biggest cost factor was the pizza with 205 Eur and we were able to cover almost all of it with 180 Eur in donations! We are happy to take care of the rest.

Also, we found two single switches while cleaning up: https://imgur.com/a/qS7f3 Let me know if they are yours.

    Rhine-Main-Area ✔
    Lots of keyboards ✔
    Friendly people ✔
    Vegan pizza ✔
    Must be MECHANICON ✔✔✔

Nice meetup. I found out about the WOOTING because of this and definitely am buying it now that I got to try it in person. Also got to test a few other switch types I was planning to try and got some ideas on what kind of keycap sets I might start using soon and learnt about some stuff I didn't really know about before :)
Just 2 months ago I bought a pok3r and now I'm fully sold to this amazing hobby.

    3 · October 1

  • Soeren

Thanks for the nice event: It was a very good opportunity to try other keyboards and chat with other clackers about their choices. The selected time slot was an excellent choice for me, Christian, this way I was able to be at home before my children go to bed 😉 Furthermore I was surprised to find vegan pizza. 👍

It also was my first meetup. It was a really pleasant experience. Lots of nice people and wide variety of keyboards.

      1 · September 20

    Other options:
    Ducky PBT Dyesubs
    Cherry OG PBT Dyesubs

    September 11

    • Felix U.

I'd love to try a novatouch and the Tai-Hao caps! Saw the GB on CB, but that was way after I decided to go ANSI.

      September 14

  • Christian B.

Hey, we just got two new supporters for the meetup!

mechboards will support our raffle with a set of switches!

And hotkeysproject will donate two of his unique artisan keycaps as prizes for the raffle!

    2 · September 13

  • Philip

I'm still not sure if I can make it, but in the case I have time do you guys need a photographer? I have semi-professional equipment for event photography. I could also bring a few mechanical keyboards aswell.

    1 · September 12

    • Christian B.

Hi! We will do photos ourselves, but of course you can bring your camera, if you want to. :)

      September 12

    • Felix U.

I don't think anyone explicitly offered to photograph the event yet, so that would be pretty cool.

      September 12

  • Sebastian aka V.

I will also bring a switch tester with GMK QMX Clips.

    September 12

  • Pascal

I have no mechanical keyboard but am interested for al long time in that and want to learn more about the hype and there benefits.

    4 · August 19

    • Christian B.

      You are very welcome!

      August 19

    • Wodan

There is a seller on German Ebay selling black G80-18xx keyboards at 15€ each including shipping. They even come with USB connection and I consider them an amazing start into the mechanical keyboard hobby. Fully mechanical, popular layout and great color. I can't link it here but you can find it by searching for "g80-18xx"

      1 · September 11

  • Stefan K.

If I can make it I will bring my TK78 (either with Zealios or Zealistotles) and maybe, if it arrives in time, something else that I don't want to spoil right now (it'll be something interesting for sure). I can also bring an old ALPS.tw clone board if there is enough interest.

    2 · September 11

    • Stefan K.

I could just put Zealios (67g) on the main cluster and Zealistotles on the Numpad (switchtop removal is a great thing).

      1 · September 11

    • Felix U.

That would be cool, maybe that'll convince me to get R4 Zealios for my next build.

      September 11

  • Jan T.

I will bring my HHKB, hopefully my Hypersphere rings arrive in time for the event, otherwise it's going to be non-silenced!

    1 · September 10

    • Wodan

Very nice, I can bring a Type-s for comparison. Either way, I would love to try yours.

      1 · September 10

    • Jan T.

This user: https://deskthority.ne... has done a comparison of stock vs hypersphere vs type-S. imho Hyperspheres sound the best, but would love to try in person!

      September 10

  • Wodan

Is there going to be a keyboard presentation area where participants can exhibit some interesting models? What's the main focus of interest here? I thought it might be interesting to bring some keyboards with a variety of custom keycap sets (DSA, SA, GMK). Is there also interest in great vintage keyboards? A nice Alps keyboard and some IBM buckling springs?

    1 · September 10

    • Christian B.

Yes, there will be space to show off your favorite keyboards!

I'm especially interested in custom keycap sets, but I would also like so see some cool vintage keyboards. :)

      September 10

    • Jan T.

I'm interested in trying Alps switches, would be great if you can bring some!

      September 10

  • Christian B.

Cooler Master will send us a of couple keyboards to try out and also sponsored a MasterKeys Pro S RGB (http://eu.coolermaster.com/de/peripherals/keyboards/masterkeys-pro-s-rgb/) and a Swift-RX mousepad (http://eu.coolermaster.com/de/peripherals/mouse-pads/swift-rx/) for the raffle!

    3 · September 5

  • Christian B.

    Good news, everyone!

With WASD and the Keyboard Company we have our first sponsors supporting us.

And we have our first presentation!

The great folks over at https://wooting.nl will join us on October 1st and give a talk!

They can give us a lot of insights about their new product, analog switches, starting a keyboard/kickstarter company or the real technical side of keyboards.

If you are interested in a specific topic, let us know in the comments!

    5 · August 30

    • Jessica M.

super cool! thank you for coming. I have soooo many questions! why did you want to make a mechanical keyboard in the first place? how did you come up with your design decisions? how large is your development team? are you planning on making more keyboards and/or other products in the input device area? Also, what I think would be really interesting is the process of getting an idea to a kickstarter-worthy product level – like, how much time the planning took, how much money you had to shell out to make prototypes, what kind of planning you did, maybe some failures/learnings/"how NOT to get your product to kickstarter" … ? Oh well. I'm sure you have some good stories to tell anyway!

      2 · August 30

    • Felix U.

Very nice! I second all of Jessicas questions, and I'd also like to know how the analogue switches work in general, though I suspect you already wanted to talk about that.

Maybe we can get a short Q&A session at the end if there's time?

      August 31

  • Dan S.

Bin dabei!
