We tried hosting online chess meetups every Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. since the lockdown started, but attendance was surprisingly low given that our in-person events were regularly drawing more than a dozen people...
I don't want anyone to think of chess club as anything other than a frivolous and fun distraction. We all have stuff going on in our lives (especially now), and if people think of our events as some sort of obligation then they are less likely to come back when they inevitably miss a few meetings.
That being said, why haven't you been playing with us on Sundays and how can we improve our online events so that you'll participate? Please fill out our two-question anonymous survey (https://forms.gle/mL4uU6Yu6iaDtm2V8) with your feedback.

The objectives of the Medford Chess Club are: (1) Encourage use of the new chess tables in Medford Square akin to what currently exists at the public chess tables in Harvard Square and Chinatown. (2) Provide a welcoming and supportive community for people of all ages who want to improve their skill at chess.
Currently, we meet every Sunday at 1 PM in Medford Square. If the weather is nice, we use the chess tables in Riverside Plaza (at the corner of Riverside Ave and River St). In the event it's too cold or the weather is lousy, we'll relocate to Colleen's Ice Cream & Sandwich Shop (61 High St, https://goo.gl/maps/MLEEEfAhr4U2 ). We have chess pieces, chess clocks, and friendly members who are willing to teach you the rules if you're new to the game.
