What we're about
Don't be shy if you only see one or two RSVP's for our events! We have a large cast of regulars who attend our meetups without registering on this website. On a quiet day we usually still get around 10 people. If the event isn't cancelled on Meetup someone will be there with the chess sets.
We currently meet every Saturday 1-3 pm. If the weather is nice we play in the Riverside Plaza at the corner of Riverside Avenue and River Street. If it's rainy or cold we play at the Medford Public Library (111 High Street). We have chess pieces, chess clocks, and friendly members who are willing to teach you the rules if you're new to the game.
The objectives of the Medford Chess Club are:
(1) Encourage use of the new chess tables in Medford Square akin to what currently exists at the public chess tables in Harvard Square and Chinatown.
(2) Provide a welcoming and supportive community for people of all ages who want to improve their skill at chess.
