What we're about

This Qigong (pronounced "chi-kung") group will take you from qi-bum to qi-awesome! The focus is Medical Qigong, which is a style of Qigong for improving health and wellness. Classes consist of learning forms from The 18 Louhan Hands, a beautiful and diverse set taught by Bodidharma in the 6th century that opens energy meridians & gets the energy flowing, boosts the immune system, loosens joints & muscles, and relaxes the nervous system. Taught by Mandi Palmer, a Certified Flowing Zen Qigong Instructor and Certified Health Coach, will be held outdoors in Carrier Park. If you are new to Qigong this group is perfect for you! If you are more experienced and open to learning a new style, this group is also for you!

Qigong 201: Additional Qigong Forms from the 18 Luohan Hands

Once you've attended my Qigong 101 and have learned the basics from me, you are then qualified to attend my Qigong 201 class which teaches additional forms of the 18 Luohan Hands. This class builds upon what you learned in 101. In 101, you learned the 5 phase routine with the form "Lifting the Sky." In 201, you'll learn additional forms such as "Pushing Mountains," "Punching with Wide Eyes," and "Green Dragon Presents Claws." Eventually, you'll learn how to incorporate multiple forms into a session. Remember, the results come from practicing regularly on your own. But from being a student of Qigong for many years, I can tell you, there's nothing like group energy... especially under our tree in Carrier Park that has the best energy! Cost to attend is $15 and can be paid in cash or sent via Venmo here: www.venmo.com/PalmerMandi. Payment must be made before class begins. Please arrive at the park 10 minutes early so that you have time to walk and find us. Please do not wear perfume, cologne, or anything fragranced. We do lots of deep breathing in these classes and need to keep the air pure. How to find us within Carrier Park: Walking from the east end of the parking lot, walk past the tiny roundabout and onto the walking path (pavilion and river will be to your right and road to your left). There will be a large open field on your right. I will be at the far end of that field right in front where the wetlands begin (where the boardwalks, benches, and nature information signs are). There is a big tree with 9 trunks and I will be right there. If you can not locate me, please call my cell phone[masked] and I will direct you.

Qigong 101: Learn the Basics and the 5 Phase Routine

Carrier Park

$15.00

Qigong 101 teaches the Foundations one needs to learn before attending the general classes and so is a required class. In it, you'll learn: 1) Why practice Qigong and its benefits 2) The 5 Phase Routine (this is your foundation) 3) One of the best exercises to put in your routine, Lifting the Sky 4) Enough to begin practicing on your own! Once you learn the 5 phase routine and Lifting the Sky (the 1st exercise in the set "The 18 Luohan Hands") you then know enough to begin practicing regularly... and it is when we practice regularly that we gain the most benefits of practicing Qigong! Doing Qigong is doing moving meditation. It's an internal experience and perfect form isn't as important as going within, using the breath, and feeling the qi... at least in the school where I learned and this is what I pass on to you. It's incredibly relaxing... especially for people who have trouble meditating and relaxing! How to find us within Carrier Park: Walking from the Pavilion with the River on your right, walk towards the east end of the large open area. I will be right in front where the wetlands begin at the east end of the big open area (where the boardwalks, benches, and nature information signs are). There is a big tree with 9 trunks and I will be right there. If you can not locate me, please call my cell phone[masked] and I will direct you.
