What we're about

This meetup is led each week by long time Buddhist practioner, Jenny Streit-Horn. There will generally be two guided meditations, a talk on Buddhism for everyday living, and time for Q&A at each class. Classes are held weekly on Sunday morning, Wednesday evening, and Friday lunchtime. Topics change each month, however each class stands on it's own and you can drop in anytime. Half day courses and retreats are also offered on one or more Saturdays a month.

You will learn simple meditations to reduce stress, improve your peace of mind and increase your spiritual perspective on life. Everyone is welcome anytime!

Intro to Foundation Program with Gen Menla

Online event

Registration is required for this event: https://www.meditationintexas.org/courses-events/intro-to-fp-tues-htutm Are you looking to deepen your knowledge and experience of Buddhism? This introductory class is open to everyone and is a great way to see if the Foundation Program is right for you. In this introductory class, you will learn about the purpose and benefits of the Foundation Program, the structure and commitments of the class, and receive an overview of the book to be studied, “How to Understand the Mind”. Everyone Welcome! A Note From Gen Menla Why is understanding our mind so valuable? The short answer is because the quality of our state of mind is the most powerful determining factor in the quality of our life. We are taught to be mainly concerned with the outer conditions of our life, but what about understanding and taking care of our mind? What about this form of spiritual self care? Understanding our mind from a Buddhist point of view is not an intellectual study but a spiritual practice. This practice is founded in the inner application of scientific exercises such as experimentation, observation, and analysis. Through using Buddha's teachings as our guide we can gain deeper insights into the nature of our mind, our happiness, and our suffering. These insights spiritually empower us in transforming our mind from pain to peace. Through the spiritual knowledge we gain we will also see how our mind is completely creating our own reality. This knowledge is extraordinarily powerful. Gradually we can even become a spiritually awakened or enlightened individual with a deeply good and peaceful heart. I invite you to attend our Intro to Foundation Program class and see if FP is right for you. Best Wishes, Gen Menla For more information and registration, please visit https://www.meditationintexas.org/courses-events/intro-to-fp-tues-htutm
