HALF-DAY RETREAT on Saturday, Oct.20 with Keli Vaughan
Retreat Topic: "We Can be Heroes" Time: 9am-1pm (3 Sessions: 9-10am, 10:30-11:30am, 12-1pm) Cost: $30 p/person in cash or credit card at event Registration: PLEASE pre-register online here through the JOIN US button, and again in person on the day of the event between 8:30-9am at the entrance. About the Retreat: It begins with a wish: to bring happiness to others and to remove suffering from the world. If we cultivate this wish in our mind and become deeply familiar with it through meditation, we are not only protecting others but also building protection for ourself — against our own painful minds of craving, anger, loneliness, and jealousy. In this half-day retreat we will practice meditations that lead us into our our own good heart — Buddhist methods for developing wisdom and compassion. EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Our Teacher: This retreat will be guided by Kadampa Buddhist Teacher Keli Vaughan, Resident Teacher at Mahakankala Buddhist Center in Santa Barbara, CA. Keli is a long-time student of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and has studied to become a teacher under the direct guidance of our General Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong, at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre. She has served as the assistant teacher for both the former KMC California and the current KMC Hollywood, the principal Temple in Southern California. (see ) Study Book: Information soon to follow Invite your friends, relatives and neighbors to share the benefit! Cheers, Christian

What we're about

Hi there,

Interested in getting away from stress, anger, problems and finding lasting inner peace and happiness through real solutions and a mindful approach? → Then this group can be for you!

In our modern and busy world, stress, depression, anger and anxiety have increasingly become a common problem for many of us. We have to confront them daily, and they tend to control our states of mind; meanwhile we are wishing to experience inner peace and happiness.

Meditation and the methods from Buddha’s teachings can help us identify the origins of our problems and finally get rid of them, finding inner stability, joy and happiness in our lives.

The intention of coming together is to start and grow a group of interested people who want to get to know and practice the teachings of Kadampa Buddhism here in Salt Lake City for the first time. This has been a dear wish of mine for this area for a long time, and I think many of us could benefit and enjoy the beauty and clarity of Buddha's teachings applied to our modern world and lifestyle.

We have organized public talks from qualified teachers and meet regularly with our Sunday Meditation & Book Study group.

This group's philosophy is operating on the base of non-profit and is open to anyone.

You don't need to be a Buddhist to enjoy it. Just open your heart and join in!
