What we're about

Offering meditation in the tradition of Swami Rudrananda, a variant of kundalini yoga, Shamatha meditation, and other spiritual offerings and mindfulness practices.

Please join us if:

• You are interested in meditation.

• You are curious about how your mind works.

• You would like to explore energy work.

• You are ready to wake up.

Rudra meditation was developed by Albert Rudolph, Swami Rudrananda ("Rudi"). The meditation is done in a seated position, either on the floor or in a chair, with open eyes.

Shamatha (https://www.lionsroar.com/how-to-practice-shamatha/) and vipassana (https://tricycle.org/magazine/vipassana-meditation/) meditation techniques also include working with open eyes.

Hu Resnick, who founded this meetup, studied and taught Rudra meditation for over 30 years.

Co-founder Angela Alston, GCFP, MFA, has practiced Shamatha-vipassana since 1996 and Rudra meditation since 2010. Her other mindfulness practices include the Feldenkrais Method (https://www.dallasfeldenkrais.com/angela-alston-gcfp/about-the-method/)® and Tai Chi.

". . . open and expand and surrender and. . . increase the flow. And this is only what counts. It's only what matters. It is because what crystallizes a man is a lack of flow.

You take in this volume and it washes through. This energy comes in and washes through, and washes out all of the imperfections and impurities. So you don't crystallize.

The thing that limits a person in growing is his mind, that sorts and begins to attack the material that comes through. And he can't absorb because there is so much tension built up, that eventually the mind crystallizes.

But if you increase the volume and the depth and the flow, then it all washes through and it purifies itself. It is like a great sewer that is washing through and taking out all the imperfections."
