Conversation to parent effectively a child with social/anxiety challenges
I’m in the Medway Mill Office Park at 165 Main Street (212) Medway, MA 02053. It’s opposite Choate Park and 2 minutes west of Job Lot and The Muffin House on Route 109 (Main Street). You can take the Main Street entrance which is next to a huge sign with company names or off a side street (Lincoln) that is to the right of the mill. If you decide to go down Lincoln street you will see a sign, after 3 houses on your left, indicating this back entrance. Once you hit the main parking lot (there is also an adjacent overflow lot) walk towards the back of the building and you’ll see a huge clock which sits way above the main entrance. Take the elevator to floor 2, bang a right, and I’m the last office on the right. I have a waiting room. If lost, I can be reached at[masked]. Bring what ever you want to eat or drink as I just provide cool office and time slot to "talk amongst ourselves". I have a microwave and toaster oven and cups/plates...if helpful if coming on lunch break. Eventually maybe we will pre-order a pizza if we all connect or chose other venues if people want to host instead of me or in addition to my monthly (first Weds) meetings. You can also check me out at o linked in or facebook... I'm just winging it folks (ah,wings , there's another good future food idea)

What we're about

Do you have a child or 2 with social communication disorder (new term for Aspergers) or with anxiety? I do (both) and thought we should get together if you are looking for any of the following things: emotional support, networking (eg., information on resources, learn about how to find things to do with your kids or find social avenues for them), connect our kids at some point, share info on how to save money on your health insurance, meet up in some other way for just pure fun, the IEP system (eg., when to join special program in town or push for out of town placement) and so forth. I figure each of us has something to offer that we have figured out or just your energy to help where you can if you are more new to the process. I am going to selfishly limit membership for this group to folks with kids in middle school as my son is going into 7th grade and my feeling is that those of you with kids too much younger or older would be focused on a lot of different kind of challenges (plus I have to first make sure I don't get too many in the group). However, this is open to revision for certain circumstances; I'm very new to the "run the group" thing, but no one else was doing it around here. Lastly, if you are a patient of mine currently or have been it might be a good idea for you to check with me before joining so it feels comfortable for us both.
