This month, Zaki Anwar Hamdani will present an intro to Android Development for Java Developers based on his recent experience in developing with the SDK.
The presentation will provide introductory knowledge about Android and is meant for beginners to the platform. He'll be covering creating a simple App and running it on the emulator and phone. He'll also touch on some of the other API's he's had to use to consume web services and generate graphics. The talk will also explain the need-to-know parts of the SDK: Activities, Services, Intents, & Resources.
Should we have some time at the end, we can run a quick hack session. For those interested, please bring your laptops with Eclipse or IntelliJ and a pre-downloaded Android SDK (from http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html ) so we can practice the examples from Zaki's talk.
Zaki has been working as a Java developer since graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor of Engineering with Electronics and Telecommunication from University of Pune, India. He has spent most of his commercial experience working for Credit Suisse AG out of Pune and Zurich.
He is also one of the founding team members of Zaib Technologies (http://www.zaibtech.com), an Embedded Systems Consultancy and Development company with numerous offices throughout India.
Recently migrated to Melbourne, Zaki is currently open to team lead and development opportunities here.
