How do you feel a lack of knowledge management impacts the organisation?

Profoundly! It can impact on an organisation in so many different ways, adversely affecting strategic and business planning, wasting resources (especially human), an organisation's ability to be entrepreneurial and responsive and innovative, and workplace culture.

What constitutes good Knowledge Management practice in your eyes?

A number of things! It is important, of course, to set up the right processes to not only elicit and document the knowledge of staff (in all its myriad forms and there are so many creative ways of doing this) but also to ensure that the leaders in the organisation fully understand and embrace good knowledge management. There is nothing like an underdeveloped 'alpha' boss (rigid, intolerant of new ideas, competitive towards their own staff) to kill innovative practice and a creative and humane work place culture stone dead.
