About the house band: We have carefully chosen musicians who are capable of reading and playing a wide range of music at (literally!) a minute's notice, with no practice and in any key (to suit singers and solo instrumentalists). So, just bring your charts (but note that our music stands are not large enough to hold 6-page charts). Open Jam: if you're not yet ready for the solo limelight, join in the Open Jams. Bring your instrument: trumpet, sackbut, saxophone, guitar, recorder, serpent, harp, lap steel, accordion, harmonica, gamelan, ... even vocals! No booking required. Grab a jam chart ( and practise at home, if you like (see links below). Bring the jam chart to the Soirée – we don't have extra copies! Audience: The majority of people attending our events don't actually perform: they are the audience. And they come every month because it's a lot of fun! What we're about

Melbourne Music Performers is for singers and musicians to perform and audiences to listen to live music in a friendly environment.

We hold Soirées on two Fridays in each month.

There's a set programme of entertainment throughout the evening.

There are also Open Mic segments and Open Jams. Our house band provides backing where required. No rehearsal: just turn up and perform to old friends and new ones. It’s open to all styles of music and performers of all ages.

So, the Melbourne Music Performers are about:

    LIVE music
    meeting people, and
    having FUN!
