What we're about

Melbourne Music Performers is for singers and musicians to perform and audiences to listen to live music in a friendly environment.

We hold one Soirée each month (except January)

There's a set programme of entertainment throughout the event.

There are also Open Mic segments and Open Jams. Our house band provides backing where required. No rehearsal: just turn up and perform to old friends and new ones. It’s open to all styles of music and performers of all ages.

So, the Melbourne Music Performers are about:

LIVE music
meeting people, and
having FUN!

Upcoming events (1)

Melbourne Music Performers Sunday 6th October - Afternoon

We've been having a great time so we are back for another great event and many more to come, but it all depends on you attending. Help us to help you. For the events to remain viable, we need to keep an audience, so please invite your friends – come along for a great afternoon of free live music. The House Cats will play great music, and the open mic and invited artists will always put on a great show for you. So, perform with a band, or solo: enjoy living your performance dreams. Bring your friends (children welcome if under adult supervision). The Ringwood RSL is located over the road from Ringwood Station (which is also a bus hub). Good parking facilities on the premises. Food and drinks are available all day in the room in which we are located. Large tables seat 8-12 people; there are also smaller tables. The Ringwood RSL is fully accessible. *** Open Mic, Invited Artists and Jammers *** If you've signed up as a member of our group, you can request to pre-book a spot. If you'd like a prebooked spot, please send your messages to the organizers (Ann C, Ash T and Kevin) quickly but please FIRST read this information on performing in the Open Mic section: http://www.meetup.com/Melbourne-Music-Performers/pages/Information_for_performers_%28Open_mic%29/ If you'd like to be part of the jams, get the jam charts (http://www.meetup.com/Melbourne-Music-Performers/pages/Jam_charts/). We will announce the jam songs in the Discussion for this event. But for anyone who has trouble finding them, here they are. Jam Set 1 From Real Book 1: Satin Doll - C (Swing) How High the Moon - G (Swing) My Funny Valentine - Cm (Ballad) I could write a book - C (Swing) Like someone in Love - Eb (Swing) The more I see you - Eb (Latin) Jam Set 2 From Real Book 1: My Little Boat - G (Latin) Nostalgia in Times Square - F (Swing) and Bye Bye Blackbird - F (Swing) (This is in Real Book 2. We will bring lead sheets in F and charts for Bb and Eb Instruments.) As always, there will be some great tunes for soloing, or just playing the head. Grab your chart from the links that we have supplied and have some fun practicing until the event. As with any jam tune – singers are always welcome, just bring some lyrics and be prepared to sing the song in the key as per the real book or jam chart links. If the chart is not in your preferred key, and you really want to sing, why don’t you book your own spot and provide the charts in the key you want to perform.
