Why are we crowdfunding?

With the change in leadership in Canberra, we are very hopeful about the future of tech startups in Australia. It's looking good for us as Australia's largest tech startup community spread across 5 states.

We are launching the beta version of our new website and Silicon Beach Radio on the night. Funds raised will go to these two projects. What can you expect from SB Radio? Listen to these short, sharp interviews with Silicon Beachers.

90second pitches just got serious

Silicon Beach TV is already on Periscope and YouTube. Your pledges will ensure these services continue and grow.

We emailed the link to the live stream of 90 second pitches from the last meetup to Melbourne Angels. One angel was so impressed with one particular pitch. They are now in negotiations.

Who said Aussie investors are not interested in startups? If your idea is solving a real problem, and really innovative - there is no shortage of funds. In future we will send the link to 90 sec pitches to international angel groups as well as Australian investors.

Help SB Radio & SB TV grow - because they will take your startup to the world.

Pledge now! (https://www.ipledg.com/campaigns/melbourne-silicon-beach-startup-spring-2015-meetup/)

A delightful blend of Tech and Art

Melbourne, as you know is Australia's art & creative capital. It's everywhere in the theatres, laneways and even in the coffee cups in the fabulous cafes around town! Silicon Beach is bringing Melbourne's Creative Arts communities and tech entrepreneur communities together. Let's see what comes out of this fusion. Some world leading art+tech startups? We certainly hope so.

We are inviting the creative people that make up Melbourne's tech startup communities, creative art meetups, the burgeoning IOT and maker spaces , Virtual Reality groups, co-working spaces and incubators and members of the public curious about the web/apps/startups and anything in-between. So don't forget to bring a friend or two along.

For anyone not a member of meetup or doesn't want to be a member, there is a page on Eventbrite to this event (http://bit.ly/1KzF5hb). They can get a ticket for free.

Our ever helpful venue sponsor, Royal Melbourne Hotel has given us their Atrium (can easily hold 450 people) on the ground floor with A/V facilities. It's going to be HUGE.

We will update you on some exciting sponsorship opportunities...

Please note - As this meetup happens on the Tuesday 29th September on the penultimate day of Startup Spring 2015, we have decided to cancel the October MSB drinks meetup due to be held 2 days later on 1st October. So if you were thinking of coming to the October meetup, please RSVP to this one instead.

Thank you.
