What we're about

A peer support group for males in the Gulf South (Louisiana, Mississippi) who struggle with body image, eating disorders, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, muscle dysmorphia, and related problems. There are countless men who are dealing with this alone, but it doesn't have to be that way. This group is for men (18 and older) who would benefit from support from peers who understand the difficulty and stigma of being a male with eating disorders and related problems.

Most of our meetups will be discussion groups. There will be readings from recovery-oriented materials to inspire discussion, and you will have the opportunity to tell your story if you so choose. Other meetups will be more fun-oriented (going to a movie, game nights, etc.).

While we are supportive of those who are struggling, participants must be committed to recovery.

This group is not a replacement for professional treatment. It is important that you see an experienced professional if you need to. This group is for building supportive friendships. While none of us can be responsible for the recovery of another, we can all benefit from a supportive group of friends who can encourage us along the way.

We do not permit the discussion of "numbers" (e.g. specific body weight, calories, etc.) because that can be triggering for some people. Discussion that takes on any "competitive" aspect (e.g. comparing body size or weight) will not be permitted.

Transgender and gender-nonconforming folks are welcome here. Homophobia and transphobia are not.
