Minneapolis Meteor Drinkup
Details
Hello, all ye Friends of Meteor (http://meteor.com/)!
UPDATE 2/3 - CLICK THIS LINK (https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/7a60cd248af122304313aef73684156f5caa7813) to join the Google Hangout, where Matt Debergalis will be hanging out remotely. We plan on connecting with them at 6:30 our time, so an hour into the meetup (after an initial presentation).
Welcome to the Group!
We are excited to have you aboard! First, know this: Meteor is TONS of fun. If you've spent any time doing web application development, you'll start using meteor and realize, "Holy mercy, I can create things SO much quicker now, this doesn't seem fair!" Second, know this: Meteor is VERY new. So new it still has the wonderful, new-framework smell. Hopefully you'll join us and we'll figure out lots of cool stuff together.
Who am I?
My name is Tim, and I'm co-captain of the Meteor Group in Minneapolis, along with Meteorite Jade Wang from San Francisco. I've been developing software for over 10 years, and have never used anything like Meteor before. I work FT as a software architect at TIES (http://ties.k12.mn.us/) in St Paul, which is a software development company that serves a consortium of school districts. We write education software for over 1/3 of the students in the state, and we're using Meteor for a grand new project launching in the Fall!

...it was not entirely foreseen, with the advent of Node.js, that the machines would become transient so quickly. Nevertheless, it happened. The Templates are Reactive. There is no longer any update code to write. There is no update code at all.....[message text garbled] End Transmission
