One Day at Bootcamp: Python, focusing on Pandas and SciKit Learn

You’ll receive free, interactive training in Python, focusing on Pandas and SciKit Learn from Metis Senior Data Scientist, John Tate. IMPORTANT NOTE: The curriculum is designed for those familiar with Python data structures, loops, functions, and other common programming requirements. Required prerequisites: Familiarity with beginner Python Computer with Anaconda installed Schedule: -10:00 - 10:30 - Setup and Orientation - 10:30 - 11:00 - Intro to Machine Learning - 11:00 - 12:00 - Intro to Pandas - 12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch - 1:00 - 1:20 - Intro to Regression - 1:20 - 3:00 - Predicting House Prices with Regression After a brief introduction to the concepts of machine learning, we'll dive into a hands-on session with Pandas to wrangle data. After lunch, we'll reconvene and focus on the basic theory of linear regression and how to apply it in a practical way. We'll use a dataset about house prices in Iowa to learn to make useful predictions. About the Metis Instructor John is a data scientist with experience in machine learning, cloud technologies, and business intelligence. John joins Metis from WithumSmith+Brown, where he was a manager in their data and analytics practice. At Withum, John led engagements developing end to end solutions for clients with applications ranging from data management and cloud infrastructure to predictive analytics and business intelligence. He has taught data science for General Assembly as well as Microsoft training workshops and professional education courses for financial professionals. He is a data scientist with a background in planetary science and theoretical physics. Previously he was a NASA scientist modeling asteroid impacts and habitability in the solar system using supercomputer simulations; he now aims to work with cutting edge technologies at the intersection of client needs and data driven opportunity. His tools: - Python/MATLAB/Fortran - SQL/NoSQL - Supervised/Unsupervised Learning - Natural Language Processing - Time Series Analysis - Deep Learning Timothy has a Ph.D in Planetary Science and Computational Fluid Dynamics. from Purdue University. Samuel Adams graduated from Metis in December of 2018. He is an engineer turned data scientist with practical experience taking projects from raw data through analysis, modeling, visualization, and presentation to an audience. Comfortable working in Python and SQL, with previous solutions also delivered in C++ and Matlab. Highly adaptive, excellent work ethic in both individual and team environments. He is fluent in Spanish, French, and Brazilian Portuguese with native accent. Samuel has a B.S. in Chemical and Bio-molecular Engineering from Rice University.
