Join Metis on March 3rd for a panel presentation and discussion with members of the financial services industry to explore data science topics that are disruptive to the ways the financial services industry approaches its work.
Our speakers for the evening will be Sameena Shah, Director of Research, NY at Thomson Reuters; Jae Hong Kil, CEO and Portfolio Manager at Sentiment Alpha; and Alexander Rafael, CEO at Climb Credit.
The application of data science in financial services is raising many questions and creating change.
How are new approaches to data analysis changing the way analysts do their jobs? How is AI changing the way we address credit risk analysis, trading and sentiment analysis? How do you differentiate between relevant data and “big” data? How is exponential data changing the financial services industry?
Registration begins at 6:30pm followed by the 7:00pm presentations and Q&A. Sameena Shah

Sameena Shah is the Director of Research, NY for Thomson Reuters. Sameena Shah has a PhD in Evolutionary Optimization and a Masters in Computer Applications from IIT Delhi, India. Her research interests revolve around Machine Learning, text processing, Quantitative methods, Big Data analytics and non-linear optimization. At Thomson Reuters, she led the development of several large scale unstructured text based equity and commodity predictive models. Sameena has published approx. 20 papers in international journals and conferences and has received several awards. She sits on the review panel of several journals and conferences. Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, she worked at a hedge fund in NYC.

Jae Hong Kil

Jae Hong Kil is the CEO and Portfolio Manager of Sentiment Alpha Capital Management LLC with 10 years of experience as a quantitative trader. Mr. Kil manages its first Fund, Sentiment Alpha Fund 1 (US Long/Short Equity) and leads all research, trading and operations.
Prior to joining Sentiment Alpha Capital, Mr. Kil managed $2B Index Arbitrage books and $100M Statistical Arbitrage portfolios, and interactively worked with clients for sell-side trades in Listed Options desk at Natixis North America LLC as a quantitative trader, generating profits five years in a row.
Mr. Kil received M.S. in Computer Science from Stony Brook University, and he worked on the Lydia project, which served as the technological foundation of General Sentiment, Inc. as one of the initial members specialized in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
Mr. Kil also served in the US Army (KATUSA: Korean Augmentation To the US Army) as a Cryptologic Voice Interceptor and attained the rank of Sergeant. For excellence in his leadership and duty, Mr. Kil was awarded the Army Achievement Medal.

Alexander Rafael
