Back by popular demand, Metis NYC will be hosting “One Day at Bootcamp” to give you a chance to see what the experience is really like!
You’ll receive free, interactive training in Python, focusing on Pandas and SciKit Learn from Metis Senior Data Scientist, Julia Lintern.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The curriculum is designed for those familiar with Python data structures, loops, functions, and other common programming requirements.

Please register via the form only if you plan to attend - seats are limited and in high demand.

Required prerequisites:

Familiarity with beginner Python

Computer with Anaconda installed

-10:00 - 10:30 - Setup and Orientation

- 10:30 - 11:00 - Intro to Machine Learning

- 11:00 - 12:00 - Intro to Pandas

- 12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch

- 1:00 - 1:20 - Intro to Regression

- 1:20 - 3:00 - Predicting House Prices with Regression

After a brief introduction to the concepts of machine learning, we'll dive into a hands-on session with Pandas to wrangle data.

After lunch, we'll reconvene and focus on the basic theory of linear regression and how to apply it in a practical way. We'll use a dataset about house prices in Iowa to learn to make useful predictions.

About the Metis Instructor:

Julia comes to Metis after working at JetBlue as a quantitative engineer. While at JetBlue, she used quantitative analysis and machine learning methods to provide continuous assessment of the aircraft fleet. Julia began her career as a structures engineer, where she designed repairs for damaged aircraft. In 2011, she transferred into a quantitative role at JetBlue and began her M.A. in Applied Math at Hunter College, where she focused on visualizations of various numerical methods including collocation and finite element methods. She discovered a deep appreciation for the combination of mathematics and visualizations and found data science to be a natural extension. Julia has also worked as an Expert in Residence for a company that provides data science training. She continues to collaborate on various projects including the development of stock trading algorithms. During certain seasons of her career, she has also worked on creative side projects such as Lia Lintern, her own fashion label.
