About our Guest Alumni
Jack Etheredge is a PhD data scientist with a background in biology and bioinformatics. He's looking for data science opportunities that focus on developing and utilizing artificial intelligence.
He is a scientist with 10 years of experience in developmental biology. His goal is to work as a data scientist for a company addressing human health problems through translational science. Of particular interest to him are issues involving regenerative medicine and autoimmunity. He has experience with big data analysis, RNA-Seq transcriptomics, transgenic model organisms (predominantly mouse and fly), and working with stem cells in vivo. His PhD work was with Andrea Brand and Jim Truman and focused on the generation of neuronal diversity from stem cell lineages in Drosophila.
Summer is excited about understanding people, business and our society by leveraging unstructured data and algorithms. She is currently working as a Data Analyst at KLS Diversified Asset Management, working on predictive modeling, data engineering and visualization.
Prior to Metis, Summer worked as a Research Data Analyst at Energy Aspects, where she analyzed global oil market and turned supply, demand and trade flow data into investment strategies. For her final project, Summer built a CNN based fashion item recommender and visually displayed how the item would look on the user with OpenCV. Outside the world of data science, Summer is also a Judo brown belt and a street violin artist.
Metis (thisismetis.com) accelerates careers in data science by providing full-time immersive bootcamps, evening part-time professional development courses, online resources, and corporate programs based in Seattle, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.
